Job Description

Business Development Manager

Our client is an independent lumberyard serving contractors, builders, remodelers and residents in the Philadelphia region. They primarily supply framing lumber, drywall, millwork, doors, windows, hardware, and other building materials to professional contractors and developers.

They are building a modern, data-driven sales organization and are seeking a high-performing Sales Manager to lead our team and expand our contractor and builder relationships.

This role combines traditional relationship selling with modern analytics and AI-driven sales management tools.

The Opportunity

This is a leadership role for a motivated sales professional who wants to help grow a company and build a high-performing team.

You will oversee B2C and B2B sales to contractors, developers, and builders. develop new accounts, and manage our AI-powered sales command center, which tracks:

  • contractor pipeline

  • quote conversion

  • team performance

  • profitability by customer

  • builder account opportunities

Our goal is to grow Woodland Building Supply into one of the most respected independent lumberyards in the Philadelphia market.

Responsibilities

Sales Leadership

  • Lead and coach a team of inside and outside sales representatives

  • Conduct weekly sales meetings and pipeline reviews

  • Monitor contractor activity, quotes, and conversion rates

  • Develop and implement sales strategy

Builder & Contractor Development

  • Build relationships with builders, developers, and framing contractors

  • Identify and pursue large construction opportunities

  • Increase contractor share-of-wallet by expanding product categories

Data-Driven Sales Management

  • Utilize our sales dashboard and analytics system to track performance

  • Monitor key metrics such as:

    • quotes issued

    • win rate

    • gross profit

    • contractor activity

  • Use data to drive team performance and profitability

Profitability & Pricing

  • Maintain margin discipline

  • Work with vendors and purchasing to improve product mix

  • Focus on profitable growth

Ideal Candidate - We are looking for someone with experience in:

  • Lumber & Building Materials (LBM)

  • Building supply distribution

  • Construction sales

  • Contractor or builder sales

Qualifications

  • 5–10+ years experience in building materials or construction sales

  • Experience managing a sales team

  • Strong contractor and builder relationship skills

  • Ability to analyze sales metrics and drive performance

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and leadership ability

Preferred experience with:

  • lumberyards, millwork sales, framing packages & contractor account development
