Staff Data Scientist - Experimentation & Measurement

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Staff Data Scientist - Experimentation & Measurement in United States.

As a Staff Data Scientist on a Decision Science team within Sony Interactive Entertainment, you will lead high-impact experimentation and measurement initiatives shaping global player experiences.
You will design and interpret A/B tests and quasi-experiments that directly inform product, marketing, and platform strategy at scale.
Your work will apply advanced causal inference methods to quantify impact when traditional experimentation is not feasible.
You will collaborate closely with product, engineering, and marketing teams in an agile, data-driven environment.
You will also mentor other data scientists and help define best practices for experimentation rigor and statistical validity.
Your insights will influence strategic decisions across the PlayStation ecosystem, impacting millions of users worldwide.
This is a highly visible role focused on advancing experimentation maturity and driving evidence-based decision-making across the organization.

Accountabilities:

Lead experimentation strategy and execution across key initiatives to evaluate product and business impact.

  • Design, execute, and analyze A/B tests, quasi-experiments, and causal inference studies.
  • Develop robust measurement frameworks and define success metrics for experimentation programs.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to embed experimentation into product development and iteration cycles.
  • Communicate findings clearly to technical and executive stakeholders to drive data-informed decisions.
  • Contribute to centralized experimentation tools, frameworks, documentation, and best practices.
  • Mentor and guide other data scientists, providing technical leadership and methodological rigor.
  • Extract, transform, and analyze complex datasets using SQL, Python, and analytics tools.
Requirements

Strong expertise in experimentation, causal inference, and applied statistical modeling in large-scale environments.

  • 6+ years of experience in data science with a focus on experimentation and causal inference (or 4+ with PhD).
  • Deep expertise in A/B testing, quasi-experimental methods, and statistical analysis.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation, analysis, and modeling.
  • Strong understanding of statistical techniques and hypothesis-driven experimentation.
  • Experience influencing product and business decisions through data-driven insights.
  • Ability to communicate complex analytical results to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience building or contributing to experimentation frameworks, tooling, or best practices.
  • Master’s or PhD in Statistics, Economics, Econometrics, or related quantitative field preferred.
  • Interest in gaming platforms or player behavior is a plus.
