We are seeking to add a Tasting Room Attendant to our Portland Airport location! This position will often start at 3am and will require some weekend schedules. Pay is $18 plus tips! Please see more below.

General Summary:

The Tasting Room Attendant plays a key role in delivering the Smith Teamaker experience. As a frontline ambassador of the brand, this role provides warm, knowledgeable guest service; crafts artisan beverages and food items; maintains clean and inviting spaces; and upholds safety and service standards. Tasting Room Attendants bring the Smith culture to life through every interaction and help ensure that each guest leaves feeling welcomed, cared for, and inspired.

Primary Responsibilities

Guest Experience:

  • Welcome all guests with warmth and a customer-first attitude.
  • Engage guests in product recommendations, tea education, and menu guidance.
  • Act as a concierge for local businesses, attractions, and neighborhood partners.
  • Provide clear, informed answers to customer questions about products and offerings.
  • Maintain knowledge of current promotions, product launches, and tasting room offerings.

Service & Beverage Preparation:

  • Prepare handcrafted beverages and food items according to Smith Teamaker specifications.
  • Follow recipes, preparation guidelines, and presentation standards with consistency.
  • Maintain proficiency in all menu items and tasting room offerings.

Safety, Compliance & Cleanliness:

  • Adhere to all health, sanitation, and safety protocols.
  • Maintain valid Food Handler’s and relevant certifications at all times.
  • Execute daily and weekly cleaning schedules thoroughly and consistently.
  • Follow all product handling, storage, and temperature guidelines.

Retail & POS Responsibilities:

  • Operate the POS system accurately for transactions, returns, and exchanges.
  • Follow proper cash-handling procedures in alignment with established SOPs.
  • Stay informed about current sales, promotions, and retail policies.

Team Support & Professionalism:

  • Work collaboratively and respectfully with fellow Teamakers.
  • Foster a positive, solutions-oriented attitude during all shifts.
  • Follow verbal and written directions with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to support occasional overtime, events, demos, and short-notice needs.
  • Maintain punctuality, reliability, and a consistent weekly schedule.

Qualifications

  • Experience in customer service, café, retail, food service, or hospitality roles.
  • Strong communication skills and an authentic desire to engage with guests.
  • Ability to learn quickly and retain product and recipe knowledge.
  • Demonstrated reliability and professionalism in previous roles.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs unassisted and remain on feet for extended periods.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Valid Food Handler’s and OLCC certifications (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Enthusiasm for Smith Teamaker’s culture, mission, products, and guest experience.

Preferred:

  • Previous experience in beverage preparation (tea, coffee, café, or culinary environment).
  • Familiarity with POS systems and basic cash-handling procedures.
  • Interest in tea education, artisan beverages, or specialty food & drink.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced service environment with high guest interaction.

The pay range for this role is:
18 - 18 USD per hour(Portland, OR)
