Business Analyst - Sustainability Data & Reporting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Business Analyst – Sustainability Data & Reporting based in the United States.

This role sits at the intersection of data analytics and environmental impact, supporting enterprise-wide sustainability and ESG reporting initiatives.
It is responsible for transforming complex, high-volume datasets into clear, actionable insights that guide environmental strategy and compliance.
You will play a key role in building and maintaining robust reporting processes for greenhouse gas emissions and sustainability metrics across global operations.
The position involves close collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders across finance, procurement, HR, facilities, and technology teams.
You will contribute to the development of scalable data models, dashboards, and automation tools that improve reporting accuracy and efficiency.

Accountabilities:
  • Own the collection, validation, aggregation, and analysis of sustainability and ESG-related data across global business functions.
  • Support the calculation and reporting of Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions in alignment with recognized sustainability frameworks.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including Finance, Procurement, HR, Facilities, and Technology to gather, reconcile, and validate sustainability data.
  • Identify data quality issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement process improvements to enhance reporting accuracy and consistency.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations that translate complex environmental metrics into clear business insights for decision-making.
  • Build and optimize data models, reporting workflows, and automation solutions to improve scalability and efficiency of ESG reporting.
  • Support internal and external reporting requirements, including sustainability disclosures, investor reporting, and regulatory submissions.
  • Conduct trend analysis, benchmarking, and scenario modeling to support sustainability strategy and performance tracking.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to improve sustainability data architecture and enhance reporting platforms.
  • Explore and apply emerging tools, automation techniques, and AI-enabled solutions to strengthen sustainability analytics capabilities.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Sustainability, Environmental Science, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in business analysis, data analytics, ESG reporting, sustainability, or related quantitative roles.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and experience working with large, complex datasets.
  • Solid understanding of data validation, data quality management, and analytical problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to translate technical data findings into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to data accuracy and process improvement.
  • Familiarity with ESG or sustainability reporting frameworks (e.g., GHG Protocol, CDP, TCFD, CSRD, ISSB, SASB) is a plus.
  • Experience with data visualization tools, reporting automation, or analytical tools such as Power BI, Python, Power Query, or similar is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across diverse global teams.
