Job Summary:
As an Assistant Project Manager, you'll be more than a support role—you'll be an active part of bringing visions to life. From early design stages through final completion, you'll contribute to coordinating teams, monitoring budgets, sourcing materials, and helping hold subcontractors to the highest quality standards. You'll play a hands-on part in keeping schedules on track, upholding safety protocols, and making sure no detail gets overlooked.

You will be working with Hutton’s Industrial team, delivering manufacturing plants, processing expansions, utility infrastructure, structural concrete foundations, steel, equipment installations, and high-performance production environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Support: Support Project Manager(s) across all phases of assigned projects, from pre-construction through closeout, including financials, cost procedures, risk management, and client relations.
- Team Collaboration: Coordinate and collaborate with the Superintendent, project team, and field staff to successfully manage schedules, budgets, and overall project progress.
- Safety Leadership: Champion a strong safety culture by conducting site walks, participating in safety planning, and enforcing safe work practices among the project team and subcontractors.
- Subcontractor & Quality Management: Assist with subcontractor coordination, buyout activities, purchase orders, and ensuring quality standards are met through regular inspections and punch list management.
- Documentation & Software: Manage project files, documentation, and the flow of information while utilizing project management and scheduling software consistently and accurately.
- Cost Estimating: Develop cost estimates in CSI format and maintain a thorough understanding of the project budget scope across all phases.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors in Degree in Construction Management, or related field, required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Project Engineer, or equivalent role, in the construction industry.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- OSHA 10- and 30-hour certification with working knowledge of OSHA and company safety protocols
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to read, interpret, and communicate construction plans and specifications
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly convey instructions and expectations
- Effective problem-solving skills with sound judgment, tact, and professionalism
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Experience with construction scheduling and estimating software (ASTA, Primavera, Timberline, Beck, or equivalent)
- Proficiency with PDF viewing and editing tools (Bluebeam, Adobe, or equivalent)
- Ability to build trust and strong working relationships with owners and project partners
Work Environment:
- You will work mainly within an office environment with regular opportunities for site visits and onsite opportunities.
- Collaborative Team environment consisting of Senior PMs, PMs, Assistant PMs, and Project Engineers.
Physical Requirements:
- This role is performed in an office environment and may involve extended periods of computer-based work.
