Job Summary
Set up and operate production machines, CNC and/or manual, in order to produce parts that meet specifications for finished products or downstream manufacturing processes.
Primary Job Responsibilities
- Setup and operate production machines, CNC plasma and/or manual torches, and large vertical bandsaw, in accordance with documented procedures
- Identify product/process improvements and participate with co-workers to implement these improvements
- Operate machines using best and safe practices
- Must produce parts within required tolerances
- Function as a team member and support other teams
- Willingness to cross train on other machines as required
- Follow documented processes
- Maintain a high degree of quality
- Maintain required and accurate paperwork
- Housekeeping/maintenance of work area and machinery
- In order to achieve business objectives, work weeks in excess of 40 hours may be required
- Abide by company policies
- Other duties as assigned
- High School diploma or GED
- Minimum of five (5) years experience operating production machines in a manufacturing environment
- May substitute two (2) years experience for accredited trade or vocational machining certificate
- May substitute three (3) years experience for an Associate of Arts Degree in Machining Technology
- Ability to interpret mechanical drawings for proper applications of tolerances, fit, and process control
- Experience in the setup and operation of multiple types of production machinery
- Familiar with maintenance of production machinery
- Experience/training in the proper use of precision measuring instruments such as calipers or micrometers
Working Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to moving mechanical parts, machinery and equipment, and vibration. The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. While performing some job duties, there is a risk of electrical shock and other risks associated with a manufacturing environment. Job duties may require work in high, precarious places, work in outside weather conditions, and exposure to extreme temperatures in some cases. The noise level in the working environment is often loud. Because of this environment and associated risks, use of job appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing is required.
