This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Service & Support Engineer – Additive Manufacturing based in the United States.
The Service & Support Engineer will provide hands-on technical service for advanced metal additive manufacturing equipment at customer sites.
You will be responsible for installations, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and customer training.
The role combines mechanical, electrical, automation, and technical support expertise in a fast-paced field environment.
You will work directly with customers to diagnose equipment issues, implement effective solutions, and maintain high service standards.
The position also involves close coordination with internal teams, spare-parts planning, equipment testing, and customer acceptance activities.

You will play an important role in keeping sophisticated manufacturing systems operational, reliable, and productive.
- Support customers with site preparation requirements and ensure locations are ready for equipment installation.
- Install and commission additive manufacturing machines and associated ancillary equipment at customer sites.
- Deliver general safety, operation, and maintenance training to customers and relevant personnel.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance activities and identify potential equipment issues.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, troubleshoot equipment failures, determine root causes, and complete recommended repairs.
- Replace wear parts and spare components as required to restore equipment performance.
- Coordinate the availability of spare parts, tools, and other resources ahead of service interventions.
- Provide telephone and email support to customers and internal teams for troubleshooting and parts ordering.
- Support solution-center activities, including equipment testing, operation, and customer acceptance processes.
- Prepare detailed service, time, expense, and customer reports following field interventions.
- Manage travel arrangements efficiently, balancing cost, timing, and customer requirements.
- Travel extensively throughout the United States, typically up to or exceeding 90% domestically.
- Take on additional technical or operational responsibilities as required.
- Associate degree or technical college qualification in mechanical, electrical, automation engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Up to 2 years of relevant field service experience in additive manufacturing, CNC machining, or a comparable technical environment.
- Experience with additive manufacturing equipment is preferred.
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electronic engineering principles, with the ability to apply them in practical troubleshooting situations.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical assembly drawings and instructions.
- Experience assembling or servicing mid-sized capital equipment such as CNC machinery, industrial automation systems, manufacturing cells, or similar equipment.
- Experience working with low- and high-voltage electrical equipment and electrical measurement tools.
- Strong troubleshooting and fault-identification skills for advanced technical systems.
- Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and strong mathematical skills, including trigonometry.
- Strong computer skills, including hardware, software, and machine-specific applications, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and conflict-management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues.
- Hands-on mindset and willingness to experiment, learn, and develop practical solutions to technical challenges.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong multitasking, organization, and time-management capabilities.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to continuously learn new products, technologies, and service tools.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Must meet applicable eligibility requirements for access to ITAR-controlled technical data in accordance with U.S. export control regulations.
- Annual compensation of up to $85,000, depending on experience, expertise, position level, and geographic location.
