Senior Field Service Technican

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Field Service Technician based in United States.

This is a hands-on field service opportunity supporting critical power and energy distribution equipment in customer environments.
You will troubleshoot complex technical issues and deliver installation, commissioning, maintenance, repair, upgrade, and retrofit services.
The role combines technical expertise with customer engagement, operational improvement, and service excellence.
You will work closely with customers to identify pain points, recommend solutions, and improve equipment performance and reliability.
The position also offers opportunities to coach technicians, support certification, and supervise complex field activities.
You will contribute to product improvements, identify potential service opportunities, and help strengthen long-term customer relationships.
The role is remote-based for candidates in Cedar Knolls, New Jersey, with a strong focus on customer-site work.

Accountabilities:
  • Perform field service activities at customer sites, including troubleshooting, diagnostics, installation, commissioning, maintenance, repairs, extensions, upgrades, retrofits, replacements, and end-of-life services for critical power equipment.
  • Identify technical issues and operational pain points, recommend corrective actions, and help customers improve equipment performance, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Prepare for and execute service assignments in accordance with customer requirements, technical work instructions, quality standards, and safety procedures.
  • Support the certification and development of Associate Field Service Technicians and Field Service Technicians by providing coaching, technical guidance, and hands-on training.
  • Supervise complex site activities and act as a trainer for colleagues and customers when required.
  • Prepare material and equipment lists for service activities, ensuring required parts, tools, and materials are available and meet applicable quality standards.
  • Proactively identify potential equipment failures and recommend preventative or corrective measures to reduce operational disruption.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships by communicating clearly about service timelines, expectations, technical findings, and recommended solutions.
  • Identify potential opportunities for additional products or services based on customer needs and communicate relevant opportunities internally.
  • Identify opportunities to improve products, service quality, and operational processes, providing recommendations to management.
  • Prepare detailed test plans, service documentation, and reports that accurately capture testing activities and results.
  • Maintain strict compliance with safety, environmental, and quality requirements, promptly reporting incidents and unsafe practices.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology with at least 6 years of experience servicing critical power equipment; alternatively, an Associate’s degree in Electrical Technology with 8+ years of relevant experience, or a high school diploma/GED combined with 10+ years of relevant work and/or military experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience servicing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing critical power or related electrical equipment.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information effectively to customers, technicians, and stakeholders at different organizational levels.
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently while partnering effectively with customers and internal teams.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and moderate project management capabilities using tools such as Microsoft Project or Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and execute technical test plans and produce clear, accurate reports documenting results.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage administrative responsibilities while consistently meeting deadlines.
  • A strong sense of urgency, ownership, accountability, and commitment to completing assignments to a high standard.
  • Ability and willingness to work remotely while regularly performing customer-site service activities.
  • Candidates must already possess U.S. work authorization that permits employment in the country.
  • Willingness to travel as required by customer and service needs.
