POSITION SUMMARY

The Retail General Manager (GM) is responsible for the full operational, financial, and compliance performance of the cannabis retail location. This role provides strategic leadership across all departments, including retail operations, inventory and purchasing, staff development, and customer experience. The GM ensures the business operates efficiently, profitably, and in full compliance with Washington State and tribal cannabis regulations while upholding the values and mission of the tribal enterprise.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

· Oversee all daily store operations, ensuring seamless coordination between sales, inventory, and customer experience.

· Establish and enforce SOPs while maintaining store readiness, security, cleanliness, and operational efficiency, and optimizing workflow, staffing, and performance.

· Directly manage and develop leadership staff, including Floor Managers and the Inventory Manager, while maintaining oversight and accountability for all team members.

· Lead hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management, setting clear expectations and KPIs to foster a professional, high-performing team culture.

· Oversee inventory and purchasing functions to ensure effective buying strategies, optimal inventory levels, and strong vendor performance.

· Align inventory decisions with sales trends, marketing initiatives, and financial goals while monitoring key KPIs and approving high-level purchasing decisions as needed.

· Own and manage store-level financial performance, including revenue, margins, labor costs, and inventory spend.

· Analyze financial data to drive profitability, manage budgets and targets, and identify opportunities to increase revenue and reduce costs while partnering with finance on reporting and reconciliation.

· Ensure full compliance with Washington State LCB and Tribal cannabis regulations across all departments, maintaining accurate record-keeping and traceability.

· Serve as the primary point of contact for audits and inspections while proactively identifying and mitigating compliance risks.

· Ensure a consistent, high-quality customer experience by maintaining service standards across all staff levels and resolving escalated issues as needed.

· Partner with Marketing to execute promotions, align product availability with campaigns, and maintain brand standards and store presentation.

· Oversee accuracy and consistency across POS systems and online menus, ensuring proper execution of promotions aligned with inventory.

· Monitor loyalty program performance, online sales, and customer engagement.

· Monitor and analyze key business metrics, including sales, inventory turnover, labor efficiency, and promotion ROI.

· Use data to guide staffing, purchasing, and operational decisions while providing regular reporting and supporting strategic planning for growth and optimization.

· Serve as the primary liaison between store operations and corporate or multi-location leadership, ensuring alignment with tribal values, policies, and community priorities.

· Represent the organization professionally while supporting community engagement and tribal initiatives as needed.

· Attends and/or facilitates all mandatory meetings and training.

· Maintains confidentiality at all times.

· Maintains awareness and sensitivity to Native American Culture.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

· Demonstrate strong knowledge of cannabis products and their effects, with the ability to lead by example in customer education and service.

· Maintain consistent attendance and accountability while overseeing cash handling procedures and ensuring accuracy and compliance across all transactions.

· Ensure adherence to safety, security, and operational procedures, proactively identifying and addressing risks.

· Communicate effectively with customers and team members, using sound judgment and problem-solving skills to manage day-to-day operations, support staff, and maintain a high standard of customer experience.

COMPUTER SKILLS

? POS scanning systems preferred.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education Required:

· High School Diploma/GED and 7 years relevant experience in customer service in the cannabis industry. OR

· Associate of Arts Degree in a related field and 5 years progressive work experience. OR

· Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and 3 years progressive work experience. OR

· Masters in related field and 1 year related experience.

Experience preferred: Prior retail or cannabis industry experience, along with knowledge of Washington State cannabis regulations. Experience working in regulated environments is also beneficial.

A combination of education and experience may be considered as a substitute for a degree requirement.

? Regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

? Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

? Frequently use harp knives, box cutters, etc.
