About Us

The Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Center (IDDRC) at Albert Einstein College of Medicine seeks applicants for a Research Technician B to join the Animal Phenotyping (AP) Core.

The AP Core is a centralized, shared resource facility that supports interdisciplinary neuroscience research through rigorous and reproducible assessment of rodent behavior. The core provides dedicated testing space, state-of-the-art equipment, and expert support in behavioral phenotyping, experimental design, data acquisition and analysis.

In addition to supporting ongoing projects, the core is actively expanding its capabilities in novel behavioral assay development, computer vision–based behavioral monitoring and computational analysis, offering opportunities to contribute to innovative methodological development.

This is a half-time (50% effort) position (around 20 hours per week), with effort primarily aligned with IDDRC-supported activities. This is a one-year term position, with the possibility of renewal based on available funding and satisfactory performance. The work location for this position is in-person at the Kennedy Building.



POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

The person will:

* Assist with preparation and execution of rodent behavioral experiments conducted through the core;

* Support behavioral assay setup, scheduling, and experimental workflows;

* Assist with data collection, record-keeping, and organization of behavioral datasets;

* Assist with maintaining standardized procedures that promote rigor and reproducibility across studies

* Require occasional guidance;

* Occasionally be responsible for ordering routine supplies;

* rarely modify technical procedures;

* rarely train or guide other lab members;

* Occasionally analyze data;

* Rarely interpret data;



QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in biology or a related field is required or equivalent skills and related experience and zero to two years of experience;

Prior experience with rodents and behavioral assays is preferred; Interest or experience in computational methods or computer vision applications in neuroscience is preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to follow standardized protocols and maintain consistency in experimental procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate, organized experimental records
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and support several concurrent projects in a shared-resource environment
  • Basic computer skills and comfort with data entry, file organization, and routine data handling.

USD $27.60/Hr.
