Job Summary/Basic Function:
Bring Wheaton College’s story to life through video and digital content that makes people stop, connect, and imagine themselves here. The Brand Creator (Video & Digital Content), turns student experiences, academic discovery, and campus energy into authentic stories that inspire prospective students, families, alumni, and the wider Wheaton community. As part of the Creative team in Marketing and Communications, this video-first storyteller takes ideas from concept through production and delivery across social media, the website, and digital campaigns. Working closely with the Creative Director and campus partners, the role combines hands-on production with fresh creative thinking to support enrollment, engagement, advancement, and brand visibility. This is an opportunity to discover great stories across campus, experiment with new formats, and create work that helps shape how audiences experience Wheaton.


Brand Storytelling and Content Generation 25%

Find and develop authentic stories that capture Wheaton’s personality and show how students explore, grow, and transform. Create concepts, scripts, outlines, and interviews featuring student life, academics, athletics, faculty expertise, alumni success, and institutional priorities. Translate marketing goals and complex topics into engaging visual narratives aligned with Wheaton’s brand and messaging.

Video Production and Technical Execution 25%
Capture and edit compelling short- and long-form video for studio and on-location projects. Operate video,audio, and lighting equipment; combine footage, sound, and motion graphics into polished content. Produce vertical and horizontal formats, ensuring strong visual quality, clear audio, accurate captions, and accessible digital communications consistent with ADA and WCAG standards.

Digital Content and Audience Engagement 15%
Create and adapt content for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook, the college website, digital advertising, landing pages, and email. Work with channel owners on publishing and performance optimization.
Follow platform trends, audience behaviors, and emerging formats to test fresh approaches that strengthen engagement and expand Wheaton’s reach.

Photography and Campus Coverage 10%
Capture photography for campus events, student experiences, athletics, visiting dignitaries, faculty and staff headshots, and campus imagery. Proactively seek out meaningful moments and stories that keep Wheaton’s content library fresh. Edit and prepare photographs for use across institutional communications and marketing channels.

Production Process and Asset Management 15%

Manage projects from pre-production planning and scheduling through filming, editing, review, and final delivery. Balance deadlines and competing priorities with careful attention to detail. Organize, tag, archive, and maintain video and photography in the college’s digital asset management system for efficient access and long-term use. Evaluate emerging production tools and responsible uses of AI to improve quality and workflow.

Creative Collaboration and Partner Coordination 10%
Collaborate with directors, writers, social media producers, web colleagues, and campus partners to develop content supporting recruitment, enrollment, advancement, and brand awareness. Contribute ideas in creative planning and brainstorming. Coordinate student content creators, freelancers, photographers, videographers, and consultants as needed, providing creative direction and production oversight.

Other Duties
Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for the role.


Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Film, Video Production, Digital Media, Communications, Marketing, or a related field and 5–10 years producing video-first digital content in a creative, agency, higher education, or inhouse marketing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.

  • Strong visual storytelling instincts and the ability to turn ideas and complex topics into engaging, audience-focused content.
  • Knowledge of social media content strategy, platform best practices, audience behaviors, and digital content trends.
  • Ability to develop concepts and scripts, conduct interviews, and help participants feel comfortable on camera.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain quality throughout production.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, including providing creative direction to student creators and external partners.
  • Knowledge of brand consistency, digital accessibility, and organizing media assets for future use.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work to support major campus events, admissions programs, athletics, commencement, and other institutional activities.

When determining and establishing hiring rates or recruitment ranges for a position, the College considers a number of factors including the budget for the position, the range of the grade, the external market for the position or similar positions, level and scope of responsibilities, required education, skills and relevant experience as well as internal equity. All salary offers must have the prior approval of the Office of Human Resources.

The anticipated hiring or recruitment range for this position is $70-80K. The actual salary offered will be commensurate with the qualifications, education and experience of the candidate hired.


Physical Demands:
Being on your feet for long periods during events, carrying equipment, setting up and breakdown of video shoots.
