POSITION DESCRIPTION

Date: June, 2026

Position Title: Director of Environmental Services

Department: Environmental Services, Jennings at Notre Dame Village

Reports to: Executive Director, Jennings at Notre Dame Village

Position Summary:

  • This position has primary accountability to lead and manage the Environmental Services Department at Jennings at Notre Dame Village (includingmaintenance, housekeeping and custodial work)in the small houses,cottagesand apartment buildingto ensurethe safety and comfort of residents,staffand visitors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Direct and manage staff: select, hire, train, counsel and ensure performance and moraleof housekeeping and maintenance staff.
  1. Manage planning, developing, organizing,implementingand directing the day-to-day functions with a focus on quality of housekeepingand maintenance; their programs andactivities
  1. Assist the Executive Director with developing and implementing written policies and procedures for maintenance andhousekeepingwork
  1. Schedule staff, work assignments, cleaning schedules, etc.; toexpeditework
  1. Manage safety, fire protection, and prevention programs by inspecting and resolving work areas and equipment issues including the firesystemand in maintenance and housekeeping.
  1. Personally perform all maintenance tasks and functions, routine, emergency, preventative, and otherwise.
  1. Ensure compliance and continuous compliance with all Life Safety andEnvironmental Regulationsand policies.Maintain safety at all times.Maintain readiness forsurveysat all times.Immediately respond to surveyors and other authorities upon their arrival.
  1. Assure that the buildingsand grounds aremaintainedthrough delegation and/or personal responsibility; oversee landscaping and maintenanceof sidewalks and driveways including snow removal and salting.
  1. Monitor all buildingsand infrastructure systems to ensure continuous operations and efficient usage
  1. Manage external contractors
  1. Work schedule as assigned
  1. Serveinan on-call basis and respond to campus, equipment, and building emergencies ona timelybasis7x24x365. Carry cell phone and be available for emergenciescalls 24/7
  1. Develop and implement preventative maintenance programsand major system replacement plans.
  1. Assist the Executive Director with developing and managing capital and operating budgetsrelativeto maintenanceand housekeeping.
  1. Assure compliance with all related safety regulations and emergency preparedness.

  1. Always adhere to Resident Rights policies
  1. Observe all facility safety procedures and policies
  1. Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner
  1. Assume accountability for information contained in the Staff Handbook
  1. Plan work in an efficient manner anddemonstratedependability
  1. Understand andcomply withthe Corporate Compliance Program
  1. Participate in committee and events on and off the campus
  1. Know,understandand exemplify the Mission and Values of Jennings; Respect, Compassion, Community, Discovery of Potential, and Celebration of Life
  1. Perform all other related duties as directed by the Executive Director.

Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of building systems maintenance
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulationspertaining tobuilding and life safety codes
  • HVAC Certification
  • Demonstrated electrical, plumbing, and carpentry skills
  • Leadership skills, coaching, team building, goal setting, decision making, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Understand and communicates job related information and directions in English
  • In-depth emotional intelligencedemonstratedself-awareness andaccurateself-assessment, sensitivity and empathy, openness,reliability,and consistency.

Essential Physical Demands

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Prolonged periods of standing, and/or walking, as required by the position
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to perform the job-related tasks accurately and efficiently
  • Visual, auditory, and verbal abilities necessary to communicate effectively and perform job duties
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability tomaintainregular attendance and work scheduled hours, including evenings, weekends, or holidays ifrequired
  • Ability toobserveall facility safety policies and procedures

Previous Experience that is necessary background to qualify for this position:

  • Seasoned level of facilitiesmaintenanceand housekeepingmanagement experience.
