Overview
The HRIS Analyst partners with Human Resources, Payroll, Benefits, IT, Finance, and operational leaders to improve, automate, and continuously optimize HR systems, employee data, reporting, and process workflows.
This role applies Lean thinking, workflow analysis, responsible AI-enabled tools, automation, and data-informed problem solving to reduce manual work, improve accuracy, strengthen controls, and enhance the employee and leader experience.
The HRIS Analyst serves as a technical and analytical point of contact for assigned HR systems and functional areas, supporting system configuration, integrations, upgrades, testing, dashboards, process documentation, automation opportunities, user training, and cross-functional projects that deliver measurable improvements in efficiency, quality, compliance, and service delivery.
Responsibilities
- Administers, configures, tests, and supports HRIS modules, workflows, system tables, user roles, security access, integrations, and vendor releases in partnership with HR, Payroll, Benefits, IT, Finance, and external vendors.
- Uses Lean process improvement methods to assess current-state HR workflows, identify waste, variation, rework, delays, duplicate entry, and handoff gaps, and design improved future-state processes.
- Identifies, prioritizes, and implements practical automation opportunities that reduce manual effort, improve data quality, streamline approvals, strengthen controls, and improve employee and leader self-service.
- Evaluates and applies responsible AI-enabled tools and system capabilities to improve HR operations, including content generation, data validation, case routing, knowledge management, workflow support, reporting, and user assistance, while maintaining human oversight for high-impact people decisions.
- Leads and supports HR technology and continuous improvement projects, including requirements gathering, process mapping, project planning, change management, testing, communication, training, documentation, and post-implementation support.
- Maintains data integrity by developing and performing routine audits, researching discrepancies, validating integrations, monitoring error reports, and partnering with stakeholders to correct root causes.
- Builds, maintains, and supports standard and ad hoc reports, dashboards, and data extracts for HR operations, compensation, benefits, payroll, compliance, workforce planning, and leadership decision-making.
- Develops metrics and baseline measures to monitor process performance, automation impact, issue trends, cycle time, error rates, adoption, and customer service outcomes.
- Provides production support by troubleshooting system issues, researching unexpected results, documenting resolutions, escalating technical concerns as appropriate, and recommending sustainable solutions.
- Supports system upgrades, releases, patches, integrations, and new functionality through test plan development, user acceptance testing, regression testing, validation, and issue tracking.
- Maintains accurate system and process documentation, including configuration notes, workflow maps, business process guides, report inventories, data dictionaries, training materials, automation documentation, AI-use guidance, and standard operating procedures.
- Trains HR team members and system users on HRIS functionality, Lean improvement concepts, automation tools, reporting standards, data quality expectations, responsible AI use, workflows, and new or enhanced processes.
- Supports data privacy, information security, internal controls, AI governance, and regulatory compliance by following approved access, confidentiality, retention, audit, and review practices.
- Monitors emerging HR technology trends, including analytics, automation, artificial intelligence-enabled features, employee self-service, digital employee experience tools, and workflow orchestration, and recommends practical improvements.
- Participates in vendor meetings, user groups, webinars, conferences, and professional development opportunities to maintain current HRIS, Lean, automation, AI, and HR operations knowledge.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, information systems, computer science, data analytics, industrial engineering, organizational development, or a related field required; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Experience/Qualifications:
- At least five years of related HRIS, HR operations, payroll, benefits, compensation, information systems, reporting, process improvement, automation, or data analytics experience required.
- Experience with enterprise HR technology platforms (iCIMS & ADP preferred), system implementations, upgrades, integrations, report writing, dashboard development, workflow automation, Lean improvement methods, or AI-enabled HR tools preferred.
- Experience in a healthcare, multi-site, or highly regulated environment preferred.
- Strong understanding of HR systems, HR operations, payroll, benefits, compensation, employee data, and related business processes.
- Ability to apply Lean thinking, process mapping, root cause analysis, workflow redesign, standard work, and continuous improvement methods to HR systems and operations.
- Ability to identify automation opportunities, define requirements, test solutions, evaluate outcomes, and support sustainable adoption of improved processes.
- Working knowledge of responsible AI use in HR, including appropriate human oversight, data quality, privacy, security, transparency, bias awareness, and governance considerations.
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, validate results, troubleshoot discrepancies, and translate findings into clear, actionable information.
- Knowledge of HRIS configuration, reporting, system testing, data auditing, integrations, workflow design, security roles, and release management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel; familiarity with reporting, dashboard, database, workflow automation, or data visualization tools preferred.
- Ability to document processes, develop user guides, support training, and communicate technical information clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, customer service orientation, and ability to collaborate effectively with HR, IT, Finance, vendors, and operational leaders.
