Farm Mechanic in Heyburn, Idaho at SOUTHWIND BY WILCOX LLC

We are looking for a dependable, motivated Farm Mechanic to join our team and help support our specialty potato farming operation. This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys working with equipment, solving problems, and being an important part of a successful farming operation.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, takes pride in their work, and is willing to continue learning and developing their skills. Our equipment includes light and heavy trucks, tractors, irrigation equipment, and a variety of specialized farm equipment.

What You'll Do

As a Farm Mechanic, you will help keep our equipment maintained, dependable, and ready when it is needed. Responsibilities include:

Service, diagnose, and repair basic electrical, fuel, and mechanical problems on light trucks, heavy trucks, tractors, irrigation equipment, and other farm equipment.

Perform preventative maintenance and general equipment repairs.

Weld and fabricate as needed.

Obtain necessary parts and services from suppliers.

Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed.

Assist other team members with maintenance, repairs, and other farm-related work.

Respond to service calls outside normal working hours when necessary, particularly during critical farming seasons.

Take initiative to learn new skills and expand mechanical knowledge.

Complete other duties as needed to support the farming operation.

Preferred qualifications and experience include:

Experience with farm equipment maintenance and repairs.

General understanding of farming operations.

Mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Welding and fabrication experience.

Valid driver's license.

Good organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

Ability to communicate and work effectively with employees, supervisors, vendors, and suppliers.

Ability to safely lift and handle heavy objects.

Positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay: $20.00–$30.00 per hour, based on experience.

Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to perform maintenance and repairs on vehicles and/or equipment.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to communicate in English, verbally and in writing, sufficiently to understand work instructions and safety information and maintain repair and service records.

Ability to safely lift and handle heavy objects required to perform the essential duties of the position.

Ability and willingness to respond to equipment service calls outside normal working hours when necessary.

Dependable attendance and ability to work additional hours as farming operations require, particularly during busy planting, irrigation, and harvest seasons.
