The Role
Birla Carbon is seeking a Supply Chain & Procurement Director to lead the strategy, performance, and continuous improvement of the Americas supply chain and procurement organization. This role is responsible for ensuring supply reliability, optimizing working capital, strengthening sourcing and logistics capabilities, and enabling sustainable business growth across the region.
As a key member of the regional leadership team, the successful candidate will drive cross-functional alignment across Commercial, Manufacturing, Finance, and Operations while leading strategic initiatives that enhance customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the Americas supply chain and procurement strategy to optimize customer service, cost, working capital, risk management, and operational performance.
- Lead the regional Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process, ensuring alignment of demand, supply, production capacity, inventory, and business objectives.
- Direct procurement strategy and sourcing activities for key raw materials and services, delivering supply security, cost competitiveness, and supplier performance.
- Design and optimize regional logistics and distribution networks to improve service levels, supply chain resilience, and total delivered cost.
- Drive inventory optimization and working capital improvements while maintaining reliable supply and customer service performance.
- Serve as a strategic partner to Commercial, Manufacturing, Finance, and Operations leadership, supporting growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction objectives.
- Lead supplier relationship management, contract negotiations, and risk mitigation initiatives to strengthen business continuity and long-term value creation.
- Build, develop, and lead a high-performing Supply Chain and Procurement organization, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, safety, and operational excellence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Operations Management, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in supply chain, procurement, logistics, or manufacturing operations.
- Demonstrated success leading S&OP processes, procurement strategy, inventory management, and logistics operations within a complex manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience managing strategic sourcing initiatives, supplier partnerships, and complex commercial negotiations.
- Strong understanding of supply chain planning, working capital management, transportation, warehousing, and procurement best practices.
- Track record of building and developing high-performing teams and leading organizational change.
- Experience utilizing ERP systems, SAP, analytics, and supply chain management tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across a matrixed organization.
- Willingness to travel 30%-40% within US/Canada/Brazil
- Experience within the chemical, manufacturing, process industry, or industrial materials sector.
- APICS, CSCP, CPSM, or related professional certification.
- Spanish and/or Portuguese language skills.
