This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Strategic Account Executive, Mining based in Australia.
This senior sales role will drive strategic growth across the mining sector in Australia and the Pacific, with a focus on major operators, equipment OEMs, and technology partners. You will own complex enterprise accounts and build trusted relationships with executive, operational, IT/OT, and procurement stakeholders. The role combines consultative selling, strategic account management, and deep customer engagement in remote and off-grid environments. You will position edge computing and AI solutions as mission-critical technologies that address real operational challenges across mining sites. Working cross-functionally with product, engineering, solutions, and ecosystem partners, you will shape tailored customer outcomes and long-term partnerships. The position offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to expand enterprise technology adoption across a strategically important and rapidly evolving market.
- Identify, qualify, and close complex enterprise opportunities with major mining operators across Australia and the Pacific.
- Develop and maintain trusted relationships with mining executives, operations leaders, IT/OT stakeholders, procurement teams, and other key decision-makers.
- Own end-to-end sales cycles involving multiple sites, regions, stakeholders, and extended procurement processes, including Australia and Papua New Guinea.
- Navigate complex buying groups within remote, operationally intensive mine-site environments.
- Deliver value-based presentations that clearly demonstrate the operational and commercial impact of edge computing and AI solutions.
- Own territory pipeline strategy, forecasting, CRM discipline, and overall account planning.
- Lead complex negotiations and close high-value, multi-year strategic agreements.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and solutions teams to develop tailored, site-ready solutions.
- Build relationships across the mining ecosystem, including EPCMs, engineering firms, mining technology and automation providers, equipment OEMs, integrators, and connectivity partners.
- Lead or support RFI, RFQ, and RFP processes within mining procurement frameworks.
- Represent the organization at relevant mining industry events, forums, and customer engagements across Australia and the Pacific.
- Maintain strong post-sale relationships to support adoption, expansion, retention, and long-term account value.
- Monitor mining industry priorities, budgets, procurement cycles, market developments, and competitive activity.
- Maintain a regular FIFO travel rhythm to remote sites across the Pilbara, Goldfields, and Papua New Guinea.
- Operate with a high level of ownership, autonomy, and accountability in a fast-moving, high-growth environment.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Technology, or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus.
- 10+ years of strategic enterprise sales experience, particularly with mining, resources, industrial, or heavy-asset accounts in Australia and/or Papua New Guinea.
- Proven experience managing strategic or named accounts within major mining operators.
- Demonstrated success closing large, complex, multi-site enterprise deals with long sales cycles.
- Experience selling technology solutions such as AI, edge computing, infrastructure, connectivity, or data platforms into mining or industrial environments.
- Strong understanding of mining operations, procurement processes, stakeholder structures, and commercial decision-making.
- Excellent executive-level communication, negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Consistent track record of achieving or exceeding sales quotas.
- Strong pipeline management, forecasting, CRM, and account planning discipline.
- Self-directed, adaptable, highly organized, and comfortable working with significant autonomy.
- Growth-oriented mindset, intellectual curiosity, strong business acumen, and a practical, results-focused approach to problem solving.
- Collaborative approach with the ability to prioritize team and business outcomes.
- Existing relationships and credibility with major Australian and PNG mining companies, including practical “dirty boots” industry experience, are highly valued.
- Familiarity with EPCMs, engineering firms, mining procurement frameworks, OEMs, integrators, and RFP/RFQ processes is advantageous.
- Knowledge of MEDDPICC, Challenger, or Command of the Message sales methodologies is a plus.
- Startup or high-growth technology experience is beneficial.
- Knowledge of edge computing, cloud platforms, AI/ML, private wireless or satellite connectivity, and their applications in mining is advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively across different ownership structures, from large ASX-listed enterprises to smaller state- or landowner-linked organizations.
