The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

The RWJBH IT (Information Technology) Site Director of the Hospital is responsible for overseeing the delivery and execution of IT services and technologies within the Hospital (including Hospitals, HOPD practices, Mobile Health, and Enterprise Departments).

This individual acts as the IT service delivery and communication focal point for IT project updates and status, scheduled and unscheduled downtimes, IT initiatives and other critical events as well as managing the relationship between the Hospital and IT.

The IT Site Director will work closely with the Hospital leadership to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization.

The IT Site Director is responsible for working within the IT Strategic, Governance, and Policy structure of RWJBH to support their respective organizations.

This includes, but is not limited to, all IT standards, policies, procedures, and other guidelines established by Enterprise IT functions from IT security, project management, change management, and asset management, for example.

A Typical Day as a IT Site Director looks like:

Strategic Alignment & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with business leadership to understand operational goals, challenges, and strategic priorities
  • Participate in Daily Safety Huddles and Senior Leader rounding to learn, catalogue, and direct resolution of open issues
  • Assist in the formulation of local capital or construction budgets, as needed, to include potential IT costs
  • Promote standardization of technologies and practices across the enterprise
  • Assist the IT Service Line in translating local business needs into actionable IT strategies, solutions, and roadmaps
  • Ensure IT initiatives are aligned with site goals, regulatory requirements, and operational performance targets
  • Meet with IT Site Director teams within the region on a regular basis to ensure all IT representatives are aligned and aware of critical issues, operational status, and project activity at their respective sites
  • Provide regular status reports to the Regional AVP IT CRM regarding project status, risks, dependencies, and outcomes
  • Ensure IT services and solutions are effectively integrated into business operations
  • Identify and address service gaps, inefficiencies, and process improvement opportunities in collaboration with the IT Service Line

Demand Management & Portfolio Prioritization

  • Assist with the intake, evaluation, and prioritization of IT requests across assigned business units
  • Collaborate with the IT Service Line and site leadership to align demand with available resources, budget, and strategic direction
  • Maintain visibility into the IT project portfolio, ensuring transparency and alignment with organizational priorities

Financial Management & Value Realization

  • Partner with IT, finance and business leaders on budgeting, forecasting, and cost transparency as well as ensuring financial accountability, cost control, and alignment with enterprise priorities
  • Assist with the development of business cases with clear value propositions and measurable outcomes
  • Collaborate with local operational leaders to evaluate anticipated IT needs and contribute this information to develop fiscally sound local cost center budgets

Risk, Compliance & Security Alignment

  • Collaborate with compliance, legal, and cybersecurity teams to mitigate risks and ensure audit readiness
  • Work with site and service line leadership to ensure compliance with annual IT HIPAA training

Communication & Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for IT-related engagement with business stakeholders
  • Communicate complex technical concepts in clear, business-oriented language
  • Participate in key committees and councils to provide IT support for local discussions and share local considerations/plan issues impacting business operations
  • Communicate opportunities for improvements or requests for innovations from regional, site, enterprise departments, or service line leadership to corporate IT leadership
  • Identify, assess, and escalate risks related to IT operations and projects to the appropriate IT leaders
  • Communicate scheduled and non-scheduled changes using the standard SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, and Recommendation) template

Project Management

  • Support digital transformation efforts within the region, ensuring the adoption of innovative technologies that enhance business processes
  • Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of local IT projects, including system upgrades, implementations, and data migration at the local level, as needed
  • Monitor the status of local projects and take necessary actions to request resource re-prioritization and redefine workplans to ensure completion of the project deliverables in accordance with the agreed upon timelines
  • Identify and assess potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to address
  • May perform other duties as assigned or directed by management

  • Process improvement: Utilize CQI, Lean Six Sigma, HRO or a variety of feedback practices to improve processes, patient and business services to meet or exceed customer needs
  • Resilience: the ability to persevere in difficult situations, overcome obstacles, and reach high levels of performance when faced with stressful work situations and time pressures

To be considered for this role you must have:

Education

  • Preferred: Master’s degree in health care, Information Technology, Business, or related field.
  • Minimum: Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience.

Work Experience:

  • Preferred: Ten+ (10) years IT leadership or project management experience implementing information systems and/or large-scale and complex enterprise-wide initiatives;
  • Minimum: Five (5) years’ experience with IT leadership in managing large-scale enterprise-wide initiatives within a complex IT organization in a multi-facility healthcare delivery network;
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, facilitation/training skills, project management capabilities, and leadership orientation;
  • Strong assertiveness skills and ability to manage conflict in a variety of situations;
  • Superior organizational and people management skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to align and motivate key process stakeholders, including nurses, physicians, and other clinical/administrative staff;
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with multidisciplinary teams.
