Job Description
Who Are We:
Fleece Performance Engineering is a leading manufacturer of after-market diesel performance products. With a reputation for innovation, quality, and service, our high-performance products push the limits of diesel performance technology. We are seeking motivated individuals who thrive in a rapidly expanding business environment.
The Perks:
Paid Time Off, Holidays, and Health Benefits (Medical, Vision, Dental, Life)
401(k) with Employer Match and Disability Coverage
Discretionary Bonus Opportunities
On-Site Gym, Training, and Other Perks
The Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated Engine Machinist to join the team at Fleece Performance Engineering. This role focuses on high-precision machining of engine blocks and cylinder heads. We aren’t just looking for an operator — we need a machinist who understands the “why” behind the “how,” particularly when it comes to tool management and the critical tolerances required for high-performance engines.
What You’ll Do:
Job Duties include, but not limited to:
Perform comprehensive engine block and cylinder head machining, including surfacing, boring, and valve work.
Set up and operate specialized engine machining equipment, specifically the Rottler EM 69ATC, while ensuring maximum efficiency and tool life.
Utilize basic CNC programming skills to adjust offsets, select appropriate tooling, and ensure programs meet the specific needs of each build.
Execute precise cylinder and main line honing to achieve required surface finishes and tolerances.
Use precision measuring tools, including dial bore gauges, micrometers, and calipers, to verify work within ten-thousandths of an inch.
Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean, organized workspace to ensure the highest levels of accuracy and efficiency.
Represent the company in a professional manner at all times.
What It Takes:
Proven experience in engine block and cylinder head machining within a performance or remanufacturing environment, including cylinder and main line honing.
Strong background operating CNC engine machining centers.
Experience with the Rottler EM69ATC is highly preferred, including a strong understanding of Automatic Tool Changer (ATC) logic, tool wear monitoring, sequencing, and offset management.
Basic CNC programming skills, including machine setup, troubleshooting minor program issues, and selecting appropriate tooling for specific jobs.
Mastery of precision measuring equipment. Candidates must demonstrate accuracy using calipers, dial bore gauges, and micrometers to verify bores, decks, and crankshaft alignments.
Commitment to precision and quality. In high-performance engine building, “close enough” is never enough.
Ability to manage workflow independently, troubleshoot minor issues, and maintain productivity without constant supervision.
Ability to handle heavy engine components and stand for extended periods in a fast-paced shop environment.
