Job Description
Job Title: Benching Technician
Reports To: Mold Making Manager (Benching)
Department: Mold Making
Summary of the Position:
Bench/spot molds and mold components. Also responsible for completing any other tasks required by the Mold Making Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Operate company forklifts/cranes as required.
• Perform all required benching to obtain the desired finish.
• Perform spotting tasks to Hi-Tech and/or customer specifications.
• Bench/master lifters, slides, inserts, and driver pockets.
• Fit slides, lifters, inserts, and other drivers into drive pockets.
• Ensure all mechanical and structural ribs are polished to Hi-Tech and/or customer specification.
• Ensure material thickness of the part is to Hi-Tech and/or customer specifications.
• Ensure all tasks are completed on-time and to Hi-Tech and/or customer specification.
• Maintain quality of product by troubleshooting, initiating engineering changes, and correcting any plastic part non-conformities that are not within customer specifications.
• Utilize problem solving techniques to determine further processing and disposition of non-conforming product.
• Support/enforce quality and environmental, health & safety policies, procedures, and training.
• Travel/Provide in plant customer support as needed
Physical Requirements:
• Work overtime as required by the Department Manager.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
• Stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, reach, push, and pull continuously.
• Work in an environment with many different sounds and sound levels.
• Work with and/or around solvents, chemicals, irritants, and/or other potential allergens.
• Travel to customer facilities, training, other Hi-Tech facilities, etc. as required.
• Work in a self-directed, fast-pace environment.
• Must be able to read, write, and perform basic mathematics.
• Work in close proximity to others as required.
• Meet physical requirements of forklift/crane operation (vision, distance judgment, etc.).
Required Technical Skills and Experience:
• Capable of accessing and interpreting design data from CAD software.
• Capable of operating sandblast equipment.
• Capable of operating spotting presses.
• Capable of reading, understanding, and applying the draft angle chart.
• Capable of using a computer to access AX, Catia, Schedule.
• Capable of communicating both orally and in written form with co-workers.
• Capable of using precision measuring tools (calipers, etc.) and other hand-held tools.
• Organized, responsible, and capable of multi-tasking.
• Capable of interfacing with various personalities at all levels of our organization.
