The Residential Specialist provides direct support and supervision to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in residential settings. This role assists individuals with daily living activities, community participation, personal goal achievement, and overall well-being while promoting independence, dignity, and inclusion.
The Residential Specialist works closely with supervisors, families, and support teams to ensure quality care and compliance with agency policies, licensing requirements, and regulatory standards.
Essential ResponsibilitiesIndividual Support & Community Involvement- Provide transportation for individuals to:
- Medical appointments
- Community activities
- School and day programs
- Religious services
- Family visits
- Other approved destinations
- Support individuals in achieving goals outlined in their Individual Support Plans (ISP) and Behavior Support Plans (BSP).
- Follow all supervision requirements and support strategies identified in individualized plans.
- Promote independence, self-determination, personal choice, and community inclusion.
- Assist with annual community home licensing requirements.
- Support residential activities and ensure compliance with operational and licensing regulations.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive living environment.
Complete accurate and timely documentation, including but not limited to:
- Medication administration logs
- Daily logs and progress notes
- Goal tracking documentation
- Incident reports
- Sleep/awake charts
- Weight charts
- Bowel movement (BM) charts
- Fire drill logs
- Seizure logs
- Behavior support documentation
- Gas receipts and vehicle logs
- Consumer funds documentation
- Attend and actively participate in scheduled home and office staff meetings.
- Assist with on-call responsibilities and emergency situations as requested by the Community Home Supervisor.
- Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, families, and other stakeholders.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support individuals and program operations.

- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Previous experience working directly with individuals with developmental disabilities or in a human services setting.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and assist individuals as needed throughout the workday.
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
