This role offers the opportunity to support advanced defense technologies through hands-on systems integration, testing, and field engineering activities.
The position plays a critical role in ensuring mission-ready performance of complex electronic warfare and radar systems.
You will work directly with customers, engineering teams, and program stakeholders to troubleshoot, validate, and enhance operational capabilities.

With significant travel across U.S. customer locations, this position provides exposure to cutting-edge defense programs and real-world mission applications.

The Systems Field Test Engineer will provide technical leadership and hands-on support throughout system integration, testing, operations, and field deployment activities. The role requires close collaboration with customers and internal teams to ensure successful execution of complex defense technology programs.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact at customer locations, coordinating field activities between operational teams, engineering groups, and program leadership.
- Support system integration, installation, checkout, testing, troubleshooting, and operational maintenance of advanced electronic warfare and radar systems.
- Execute detailed test procedures, analyze results, identify technical issues, and communicate findings to engineering and program stakeholders.
- Provide hands-on troubleshooting and repair support, including equipment diagnostics, system modifications, and technical problem resolution.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, technical documentation, and operational reports, including daily updates, weekly summaries, and monthly progress reports.
- Support customer missions through flexible scheduling, extended field assignments, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Travel extensively to support customer facilities, primarily in Virginia and Maryland, with approximately 100% travel requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance system performance, testing processes, and field operations.
The ideal candidate brings a strong background in systems engineering, radar, electronic warfare, and field testing, combined with excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently in customer-facing environments.
- Bachelor’s degree with relevant professional experience, or a Master’s degree with fewer years of required experience; equivalent additional experience may be considered in place of a degree.
- For Principal level: approximately 5+ years of relevant experience, or 3+ years with a Master’s degree.
- For Senior Principal level: approximately 8+ years of relevant experience, or 6+ years with a Master’s degree.
- Experience operating radar systems, electronic warfare (EW) systems, or similar complex defense technologies.
- Experience using RF test equipment and performing technical troubleshooting in field environments.
- Knowledge of system integration, testing methodologies, and operational support processes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience working directly with customers and technical stakeholders.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively, including long-term assignments at customer facilities.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, lift up to 50 pounds, and safely operate in environments involving heights or confined spaces.
- U.S. citizenship and an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance are required.
- Preferred qualifications include a degree in Electrical Engineering or another STEM discipline, military or government test facility experience, RF/digital signal processing knowledge, Linux and Windows administration experience, and familiarity with modern engineering tools and technologies.
- Competitive annual salary range:
- Principal level: approximately $94,200 – $141,200
- Senior Principal level: approximately $117,500 – $176,300
