School Nurse - Long Term Substitute in Atlanta, Georgia at Mount Vernon School

Established in 1972, Mount Vernon School serves over 1,250 students in Preschool through Grade 12 on our 40-acre Atlanta campus. The Role

Mount Vernon School is seeking registered nurses who can be a long-term substitute while our full-time nurse is out on leave December 2026 though March 2027. Our nurses treat students for medical issues, help prevent physical issues and disease, administer daily student prescriptions, and coordinate routine health assessments during school hours (7:30 am - 3:30 pm).

• Responsible for professional medical treatment of students and staff
• Responsible for early detection of physical problems and health evaluations
• Maintains clinical records
• Manage student food allergies and sensitivities
• Collaborate and communicate with parents, faculty, and staff as needed regarding specific students or issues
• Refer athletic injuries to Athletic Trainer as needed for follow-up care

Required Skills/Abilities

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with community stakeholders of all ages.
• Technical proficiency in utilizing online medical platforms and Google apps such as email, calendar, docs, and spreadsheets.
• Experience with Magnus software preferred.

Education and Experience

• Registered nurse with current Georgia nursing license required.
• Certified American Heart Association CPR, AED and First Aid instructor (or willing to obtain).
• Experience in school nursing or a related field such as pediatrics; early childhood experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Prolonged periods of standing, reaching, and bending.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
