This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer based in Australia.
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal technical role supporting enterprise networking sales across the ANZ region.
You will work closely with sales teams, partners, and customers to design, demonstrate, and validate sophisticated networking solutions.
The role spans wired and wireless networking, SD-WAN, data center fabrics, cloud-managed platforms, access control, and network analytics.
You will lead technical discovery, architecture workshops, proof-of-concepts, and solution validation across diverse customer environments.
Your expertise will help customers solve complex infrastructure challenges while ensuring proposed solutions align with their business and technical requirements.
You will also collaborate with product and engineering teams, bringing customer feedback into future solution development.

- Partner with regional sales teams, channel partners, and internal stakeholders to support revenue objectives across the ANZ market.
- Lead technical discovery sessions, solution design, architectural workshops, demonstrations, and validation activities based on customer requirements.
- Design and validate solutions spanning wireless LAN, campus and edge switching, SD-WAN, data center network fabrics, cloud-managed networking, SaaS applications, network access control, and analytics platforms.
- Deliver compelling technical presentations and demonstrations that clearly communicate solution capabilities, architecture, benefits, and design principles to both technical and business audiences.
- Conduct technical assessments and proof-of-concept deployments, ensuring proposed solutions perform effectively in real-world customer environments.
- Troubleshoot complex networking environments and provide technical expertise during customer escalations, using protocol knowledge, traffic analysis, and packet captures to identify and resolve issues.
- Apply basic scripting and automation techniques using tools such as Python or Shell to support testing, troubleshooting, and infrastructure automation.
- Maintain strong customer and partner relationships throughout the technical sales cycle, acting as a trusted advisor on networking architecture and technology decisions.
- Serve as a bridge between customers and product or engineering teams, communicating technical feedback and helping ensure solutions remain aligned with market and customer needs.
- Stay current with developments in enterprise networking, cloud-managed infrastructure, automation, security, and emerging technologies.
- 5–10 years of experience in pre-sales engineering, solution architecture, technical consulting, or a similar customer-facing technical role within the networking industry.
- Deep knowledge of enterprise networking technologies and protocols, including MLAG, LACP, IGMP, PIM, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, MPLS, VRRP, SPBM, and VXLAN.
- Strong understanding of authentication and network access technologies such as 802.1X, RADIUS, and access-control policies.
- Hands-on experience with network simulation, testing, troubleshooting, and packet-capture analysis.
- Familiarity with networking platforms and open networking concepts across wired, wireless, SD-WAN, network management, and cloud-managed environments.
- Understanding of cloud networking platforms and their integration with security, automation, and infrastructure workflows.
- Experience with network automation tools such as Ansible and Python scripting is an advantage.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience in enterprise networking.
- Relevant industry certifications in networking, wireless technologies, access control, cloud, or AI are strongly preferred. Cloud certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Network Engineer are valuable.
- Vendor-specific networking certifications, including professional-level credentials or equivalent industry certifications, are an advantage.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent customer engagement and problem-solving abilities, combined with a collaborative and service-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and operate effectively across sales, technical, partner, and customer teams.
- Willingness to travel regionally as required to support customers, partners, demonstrations, and technical engagements.
- AUD $220,000–$235,000 OTE, depending on qualifications and experience.
- Compensation structured on a 70/30 OTE split.
