The Executive Director will:
  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of UNM's institutional capital strategy, aligning investment priorities with University goals, financial capacity, regulatory requirements, and long-term objectives.
  • Direct the University's Asset Management Program, including facility condition assessment, asset lifecycle planning, deferred maintenance strategies, infrastructure renewal, and capital investment prioritization.
  • Provide strategic oversight of capital planning, campus and space planning, land use, infrastructure planning, and long-range campus development.
  • Establish portfolio-level strategies, governance structures, performance measures, and reporting frameworks to strengthen decision-making, accountability, and funding advocacy.
  • Advise University leadership on capital investments, project prioritization, funding strategies, risk, trade-offs, and long-range infrastructure needs.
  • Provide executive leadership to managers and functional leads responsible for capital planning, asset management, project intake, space planning, data analytics, and decision-support functions.
  • Lead complex, cross-functional initiatives involving University departments, executive leadership, external partners, and governmental agencies.
  • Serve as a principal liaison and strategic advisor on capital strategy, asset stewardship, infrastructure investment, and institutional planning.
  • Coordinate with the UNM Board of Regents, New Mexico Higher Education Department, Legislative Finance Committee, State Board of Finance, and other external entities on capital priorities, funding requests, project status, and long-range planning.
  • Oversee capital planning data, forecasting models, analytics, GIS resources, and decision-support tools to promote transparency and evidence-based decision-making.
  • Participate in institutional policy development and strategic initiatives related to capital investment, infrastructure stewardship, sustainability, operational resilience, and long-range campus development.
  • Lead and develop personnel, including hiring, performance management, coaching, work allocation, and professional development.
