Industrial Cleaner in Cedar Springs, Michigan at J-Star Motion Corporation

Position Summary:
The Industrial Cleaner is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and safety at J-Star Motion Manufacturing Facility by performing specialized cleaning tasks, operating equipment, and adhering to safety protocols.

This position is responsible for executing comprehensive cleaning protocols on heavy industrial machinery, within production zones, and across our entire plant. The position will operate specialized equipment and handle industrial-grade cleaning agents to mitigate hazards, prevent cross-contamination, and ensure our workspace meets and exceeds all regulatory standards. The work directly contributes to a safer environment for all team members and the seamless flow of our production processes.

Essential Responsibilities:
Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, waxing floors, and cleaning walls, ceilings, and windows.
Operating industrial cleaning equipment such as power washers, ride-on floor scrubbers, vacuum systems, and steam cleaners.
Handling and applying industrial-grade cleaning chemicals safely, following Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and OSHA standards.
Cleaning and sanitizing machinery and production equipment to prevent contamination and support maintenance schedules.
Collecting, segregating, and disposing of industrial waste, recyclables, and hazardous materials in compliance with environmental regulations.
Responding to chemical, oil, or material spills promptly and safely.
Performing cleaning tasks in confined spaces or at heights, using appropriate safety equipment.
Reporting safety hazards, structural issues, or equipment malfunctions to supervisors.
Ensures compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
Collaborates with other team members to complete projects and tasks.
Responds to emergency maintenance requests promptly.
Drives to pick up parts necessary for production.
Works with 5s & visual controls.
Performing other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:
Required:
High school diploma required.
Valid Driver’s License required.
Knowledge of industrial cleaning equipment and products.
Attention to detail to ensure thorough cleaning of all areas, including hard-to-reach places.
Ability to follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment correctly.
Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical stamina to perform labor-intensive tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for long periods, and working in various environmental conditions.

Work Environment:
This environment requires a teamwork mindset, with awareness to many different hazards including High temperature equipment, Fiber lasers, automated moving equipment, 480-volt supplies and more. Employees may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, coats, goggles, gloves, or shields.

Physical Demands:
Work requires some physical exertion such as walking, climbing, bending, stooping, stretching, or similar activities.
