Job Description

Manufacturing production coordinators are responsible for ensuring that the manufacturing process runs smoothly by ensuring that all of the necessary materials and components are available when they’re needed.

Production coordinator must have strong communication skills in order to coordinate effectively with other departments and teams. They often work closely with managers, engineers, designers, and other professionals to make sure that everything is running smoothly on a day-to-day basis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Work with other managers to address production issues that may arise during the manufacturing process
  • Communicating with suppliers regarding changes in materials or equipment needed to support production needs
  • Reviewing production schedules to ensure that material is delivered in time to meet production needs.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure that materials are available to meet production requirements for steel plate, tubes and stock parts
  • Coordinating with shipping companies to arrange for delivery of completed goods to customers
  • Reviewing work orders to ensure that all manufacturing materials needed match contractual agreements.
  • Establishing relationships with vendors to ensure that materials are available when needed
  • Responsible for maintaining data entry in the tracking doc and ERP system and ongoing improvement or new parts added to the tracking doc./ERP (new orders, in house orders, packing list)
  • Responsible for sending out quotes for material to multiple suppliers and evaluating price and lead times
  • Process PO’s for orders and update tracking document
  • Collects, track and analyzes data on all orders to verify mill certs and quantities match material shipped.
  • Work with vendors to resolve discrepancies in pricing and late or missed deliveries
  • Quarterly inventory checks on all stock material
  • Ability to differentiate between acceptable and unacceptable product; take action to quarantine, communicate and rectify any nonconforming products
  • Regularly update and maintain the approved supplier database, lead Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR) for non-conformances, issue performance metrics and perform supplier assessments
  • Confer with VP of Manufacturing and Construction and Manufacturing Manager to determine material requirements to identify overdue materials
  • Provides Accounting Department with current pricing on all material ordered
  • Maintain data for all government regulatory reporting requirements
  • Independently performs other duties under the guidance from supervisor

JOB REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing or related experience within the manufacturing industry
  • Self-motivated with ability to motivate others
  • Great attendance
  • Positive attitude
  • Safety oriented
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel
  • Experience working in an ISO certified environment
  • Experience with ERP systems preferred
  • Data entry experience
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Must be a team player and work well with others and demonstrate leadership
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with employees, managers, customers and suppliers. Explain processes, answer questions and solve problem.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to keep track of multiple projects tasks
  • Ability to create schedules and checklist for the team and maintain files and company databases
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to manage their time effectively
  • Attention to detail to allow you to prioritize tasks and notice any inconsistencies in the production schedule and check for errors in the production data and to ensure that all the production orders are correct
  • Strong ability to make quick decisions
  • Strong ability to problem-solve and work with multiple teams and individuals to ensure production goals are met. This requires the ability to identify and solve problems.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:
    • stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear.
    • The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
    • The employee must regularly lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
    • Work in extreme cold and heat; and/or wet and humid conditions
    • Follow safety procedures including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment
