Job Description
Summary
The Fleet Supervisor supervises the daily maintenance, safety program, training program, compliance and wellbeing of the program at all locations performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
• Have a deep understanding of all the essential job functions of the CDL Class-A Truck Driver job description
• Own the fleet safety training program with input from operations managers
• Maintain Driver Qualification files for individual drivers
• Daily check DOT compliance related to hours of service
• Check driver logs and trip reports for DOT compliance
• Conduct DOT required quarterly meetings
• Update DOT MCS-150 as needed and file every two years
• Answer all internal questions regarding DOT and maintain compliance
• Work with Controller to maintain current insurance cards and registrations for tractors and trailers
• In the event of an accident, work with the HR Department and site operations manager for submission of reports, photographs, etc.
• Track, schedule and coordinate maintenance for repairs on trucks and trailers
• Order and maintain inventory of operational supplies
• Audit drivers with check rides and EEWP internal process audits to aid site operations manager
• Work with customer service to approve job site delivery locations, route optimization, and new customer routing
• Maintain relationship with Penske and ensure adherence to lease agreement
• Manage fuel cards and EZ Pass program for the fleet and company vehicles
• Approve maintenance and fleet related costs
• Miscellaneous projects as assigned
• Other duties may be assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities
• There are no supervisory responsibilities required for this position
Training
• Develop and maintain a structured training program for drivers
• Develop and maintain an evaluation, audit, and testing system
• Document individual training activities and program effectiveness
• Develop training procedure manuals, guides, and/or course materials, such as handouts or visual materials
• Demonstrate and train proficiencies in all areas of the Driver job description tasks and duties
Teamwork
• Work closely with operations managers to ensure compliance, training, and safety requirements are met
• Work with the CSR team to communicate vehicles removed from operation to ensure effective planning for routing
• Work with customer service to optimize routing and efficiency
• Follow direction from superiors
• Communicate with peers and superiors with respect and courtesy
• Communicate with branch Ops Manager to ensure compliance, maintenance, and safety with the driver team.
Maintenance
• Coordinate with drivers and vendors for monthly preventive maintenance as needed and requested
• Keep track of units and their location
• Review and match operation department costs; resolve any disputes
• Supply purchase orders for repairs and maintain log
• Communicate with any vendor and driver for pickup of units when completed
• Arrange transportation of drivers dropping off or picking up vehicles or equipment at any vendor
• Review and submit mileage sheets to Accounting Department for submittal to Penske
• Review and submit Fleet One reports regarding IFTA to Penske
• Review and answer questions on invoices
• Investigate damage to trucks and trailers and report using 8d
• Monitor E-Z passes and keep them current
• Monthly review E-Z Pass bill for accuracy
• Order and maintain inventory of operational supplies (straps, winches, gloves, bars, logs, etc.)
Safety
• Supervise and maintain Fleet Safety Program
• Ensure compliance with all safety rules and regulations
• Distribute driver’s safety training newsletter for updates and training
• Lead by example and promote a safety culture
Quality
• Review and monitor drivers’ work quality

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Five years of multi-stop flatbed experience preferred but not required. Ten years of CDL-A driving required. Deep understanding of CDL-A compliance, maintenance, safety, and training.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Current or expired CDL Class-A with a clean driving record reflecting adherence to DOT regulations and traffic laws
