Job Description
Coastal Neurology, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our clinical team and support the delivery of high-quality patient care in an interventional pain management and fluoroscopy-based clinical setting.
In this hands-on role, the Medical Assistant works closely with physicians and clinical staff to care for patients with chronic pain, spine, neurological, and related conditions. The position combines traditional Medical Assistant responsibilities with direct support for interventional pain management procedures, including fluoroscopy-guided procedures performed in the office setting.
Responsibilities include preparing and rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, completing medication reconciliation, assisting physicians during interventional procedures, preparing and maintaining procedure rooms, supporting sterile technique and instrument processing, and helping ensure safe and efficient patient flow throughout the clinical day.
The Medical Assistant also plays an important role in maintaining compliance with established infection-control, sterilization, radiation-safety, documentation, and patient-safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities
- Welcome, room, and prepare patients for office visits and interventional pain management procedures.
- Obtain and accurately document vital signs, medication histories, allergies, and other relevant clinical information.
- Assist physicians and clinical staff with patient examinations, treatments, and day-to-day clinical needs.
- Prepare patients, procedure rooms, instruments, medications, supplies, and equipment for fluoroscopy-guided and other interventional pain procedures.
- Assist physicians during procedures while maintaining appropriate sterile and aseptic technique.
- Support safe patient positioning and preparation while maintaining patient comfort, dignity, and privacy.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures and promptly communicate abnormal vital signs, adverse reactions, or changes in condition to the appropriate clinical provider.
- Support post-procedure recovery, patient education, and discharge instructions as directed by the provider.
- Follow established radiation-safety protocols and properly use required protective equipment when working in fluoroscopy areas.
- Clean, disinfect, process, and sterilize reusable instruments and maintain required sterilization documentation.
- Clean, disinfect, restock, and prepare examination and procedure rooms between patients.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels of medical supplies, sterile instruments, PPE, medications, and procedure-related materials.
- Complete required clinical, sterilization, cleaning, equipment, inventory, and safety logs accurately and timely.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Follow established infection-control, bloodborne-pathogen, OSHA, patient-safety, and workplace-safety protocols.
- Collaborate with physicians and clinical team members to maintain efficient patient flow and a positive patient experience.

Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Medical Assistant certification preferred or required based on applicable state and facility requirements.
- Previous Medical Assistant or other clinical experience preferred.
- Experience in interventional pain management, pain medicine, neurology, orthopedics, spine care, fluoroscopy, ambulatory surgery, or another procedural setting is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of vital signs, medication reconciliation, infection control, sterilization, and basic clinical procedures.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) and accurate clinical documentation preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to patient safety and quality care.
- Ability to remain organized and work efficiently in a fast-paced, procedure-focused clinical environment.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to interact professionally and compassionately with patients experiencing chronic pain or complex medical conditions.
- Ability to follow established clinical protocols, safety requirements, and physician direction.
- Willingness to complete required fluoroscopy, radiation-safety, infection-control, and other applicable clinical training.
- Dependable, adaptable, and comfortable balancing direct patient care, procedural support, and clinical responsibilities throughout the workday.
