Job Description

AI Product Designer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an AI Product Designer based in United States.

This is an opportunity to independently shape the user experience of a complex, AI-powered SaaS product serving users with demanding real-world workflows.
You will own UX decisions for a product area, from understanding user needs through defining and shipping intuitive interface experiences.
The role combines strong foundational product design with emerging AI-native workflows and a thoughtful approach to AI interaction patterns.
You will work closely with Product and Engineering, balancing quality, scope, and delivery speed while clearly communicating the reasoning behind your decisions.
A major part of the role is developing firsthand expertise in user workflows and translating that knowledge into designs, patterns, and documentation others can build upon.
You will also contribute to a cohesive design language across the broader product while helping the team use AI as a meaningful accelerator for quality and speed.
This is a high-autonomy environment suited to a designer who can ramp quickly, make sound judgments, and turn ambiguous problems into shipped outcomes.

Accountabilities:
  • Own the end-to-end UX definition for a product area, identifying user needs and translating them into effective interface elements, interactions, and behaviors in partnership with Product.
  • Serve as the key decision-maker for quality-versus-speed trade-offs within your scope, adapting design depth to release priorities while maintaining a high standard of user experience.
  • Develop deep knowledge of user workflows through direct research, user conversations, workflow mapping, and documentation of the human and organizational context behind product needs.
  • Own pattern and interaction decisions within your product area while contributing to a consistent design language and system across the broader product.
  • Evaluate emerging AI user-experience patterns and determine thoughtfully when and how they should be applied to specific use cases.
  • Combine established UX/UI design practices with AI-native workflows to produce high-quality work across different levels of fidelity and complexity.
  • Use AI design tools fluently as part of the design process, applying them to accelerate exploration, execution, and quality rather than simply adding AI for its own sake.
  • Document design intent through visual artifacts and clear written guidance that can be understood and acted upon by both human collaborators and agentic tools.
  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering to move initiatives forward, communicate design rationale, and make practical decisions that support successful releases.
  • Contribute to broader team workflows and practices, helping improve how designers use AI tools and methodologies to increase effectiveness and consistency.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience independently owning UX for a product area or complex workflow from user research and problem definition through shipped interface decisions.
  • Strong expertise in foundational UX/UI principles, interaction design, and product design, with a proven ability to make and communicate thoughtful trade-offs between quality, speed, scope, and fidelity.
  • Hands-on experience developing deep user and workflow expertise through direct research, user interviews, workflow mapping, and structured documentation.
  • Experience strategically and tactically implementing at least one significant AI-powered workflow within a SaaS application.
  • Strong understanding of emerging AI UX patterns, with a clear methodology for evaluating which approaches are appropriate for specific user needs and use cases.
  • Advanced proficiency with AI-powered design tools and workflows, combined with an intermediate understanding of how foundation models work and the practical trade-offs they introduce.
  • Experience contributing to design-system or pattern decisions beyond an individual project is preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of accessibility and interaction-design fundamentals, with the ability to communicate these principles effectively to collaborators.
  • Active participation in the design systems community through writing, speaking, open-source work, or comparable contributions is a plus.
  • Demonstrated interest in improving team-wide workflows and increasing the effective use of AI tools and practices, beyond optimizing individual productivity.
  • Ability to operate independently in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, ramp quickly, exercise sound judgment, and confidently communicate design decisions.
Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation: Senior Product Designer range of $160,000–$200,000 plus equity.
  • Staff-level compensation: Staff Product Designer range of $185,000–$230,000 plus equity, depending on scope and level.
  • Meaningful equity: Opportunity to share in the organization's long-term success.
  • Remote-first flexibility: Work remotely with flexible working hours; some customer-facing roles may require onsite work.
  • Unlimited PTO: Flexible time off designed to support sustainable performance and recharge.
  • Comprehensive health coverage: Health, dental, vision, and life insurance.
  • 401(k): Retirement plan with company matching.
  • Paid parental leave: 8 weeks at 100% regardless of state.
  • Annual company retreats: Opportunities to connect with colleagues through company-wide summit trips.
  • Home office support: $1,000 annual budget for home office improvements.
