This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Technical Business Developer – Sub-transmission Products based in United States.
This senior role combines technical expertise, product strategy, and business development within the U.S. power infrastructure market.
You will lead customer engagement for advanced sub-transmission solutions, with a focus on 72.5–145 kV dead tank circuit breakers.
The position serves as a bridge between product management, sales, utilities, EPCs, OEMs, and industry stakeholders.
You will help expand market opportunities while supporting the adoption of digital-ready and SF6-free technologies.
Your technical leadership will influence product configuration, solution design, standards alignment, and customer requirements.
The role offers significant autonomy in a remote environment, with opportunities to shape product evolution and market strategy.
You will also contribute to the modernization, sustainability, and resilience of the electrical grid.
- Drive market growth: Identify and develop new opportunities with utilities, EPCs, OEMs, and other strategic customers across the U.S. sub-transmission market.
- Shape go-to-market strategy: Develop market penetration plans, support commercial growth initiatives, and help secure product homologation with key utility customers.
- Provide technical leadership: Serve as a subject-matter expert for sub-transmission products, leading technical discussions, product configuration, advanced feature evaluations, and pre-sales solution design.
- Support customer solutions: Translate customer requirements into technically appropriate solutions while connecting product capabilities with evolving utility needs and applications.
- Influence industry standards: Ensure alignment with relevant IEEE and ANSI requirements and participate in industry organizations and technical forums to help shape emerging specifications.
- Build strategic partnerships: Develop relationships across the broader energy ecosystem and strengthen collaboration with customers, partners, and industry stakeholders.
- Drive product innovation: Capture market and customer insights and translate them into recommendations for product development, digital integration, and adoption of sustainable SF6-free technologies.
- Collaborate cross-functionally: Work closely with product management, global portfolio teams, sales, engineering, and other stakeholders to align technical, commercial, and market priorities.
- Support industry representation: Represent the organization at relevant customer meetings, conferences, and industry events, helping strengthen its position within the sub-transmission market.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 10+ years of experience working with high-voltage equipment, ideally involving circuit breakers or other critical substation components.
- Strong understanding of U.S. sub-transmission applications, utility purchasing processes, technical requirements, and market dynamics.
- Proven background in technical sales, product management, business development, or a combination of these functions within the power or energy sector.
- Practical knowledge of vacuum interrupter technology and SF6-free solutions, including relevant market or regulatory considerations.
- Familiarity with IEEE and ANSI standards applicable to high-voltage electrical products.
- Strong technical communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts and influence technical and commercial stakeholders.
- Demonstrated stakeholder management and relationship-building capabilities across utilities, EPCs, OEMs, and internal teams.
- Ability to combine technical depth with commercial awareness and identify opportunities for product and market growth.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally as required.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with distributed teams.
- Annual salary: Expected base salary range of $119,000–$190,400, depending on qualifications and experience.
- Annual incentive: Eligibility for a short-term incentive plan/annual bonus.
- Remote flexibility: Remote position open to candidates across the United States, with preference for Cary, NC or Houston, TX.
