Job Description

The Sr. Engineer Connected Services is responsible for the technical project execution, and team growth of MCGSs connected services business including platform selection, system design, field installation support, system testing and commissioning activities.

Location Preferences: Frisco, TX (Headquarters), Spicewood, TX, Denver, CO- Remote, Florence, SC.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the growth of Connected Services by supporting the hiring, developing, and retaining a top-tiered team of talented Control System Engineers and Specialists, developing and executing Electrical Power Monitoring and related control systems services, and supporting additional business development and project execution opportunities (in architecting, quoting, and closing) Mission Critical Group products and offerings.
  • Role will require complete customer, program, project ownership of applications ranging from $50K to $20M, including platform / technology selection, system architecture, designing, technical reviews, management of resources, purchasing decisions, change order management and the overall technical and financial success of the execution
  • Leadership and overall responsibility for the execution of activities required for project delivery excellence, including technical, financial and commercial aspects of Connected Services projects
  • At times, acts in a direct execution role, acting as the primary customer interface, responsible for project technical, schedule and cost baselines.
  • In collaboration with the PMO, Responsible for financial negotiations with the customer involving proposals, estimates and quotations, change orders and change directives.
  • Coordinate with internal engineering and technical field personnel and third-party suppliers in the implementation of Electrical Power Delivery, Equipment, and Modular systems in a wide variety of applications for a customer(s) at multiple locations.
  • Collaborate with multiple internal departments, including Sales, Solution Development, Engineering, Manufacturing / Production, and Service, as well as similar third-party suppliers, to deliver superior solutions and ensure total customer satisfaction and profitability.
  • Support the Project Delivery Organization in Subcontractor selection and management required


Qualifications

  • BSEE or BSME Engineering degree or equivalent practical work experience (Industrial Control Systems) or educational background
  • Expert knowledge of and experience with PLC-based control / HMI / SCADA (Inductive Automation, Rockwell, Wonderware, Schneider) systems.
  • Expert knowledge of and experience with advanced network topologies including; EtherNet/IP, Modbus (RTU/TCP), PROFINET and IO-Link interfaces.
  • Hands-on experience working with and developing in IPC-based environments using CODEYSY
  • Minimum of 10+ years in industry, with 7 years in a supervisory role.
  • Expertise in technical disciplines (electrical, mechanical, controls)
  • Expertise in Risk Management and Mitigation Practices
  • Budget and Expense Management expertise required.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with customer relationship development abilities
  • Ability to work in a matrix leadership environment as project activity will span multiple locations and resources.
  • Work well within a team environment and provide input and feedback to both associates and customers for activity planning and technical solutions.
  • Strong ability to proactively identify, mitigate, and resolve complex execution risks and project issues.
  • Requires an ability to communicate customer feedback to management, and be willing to take risks on specific technical/commercial investments to further MCGSs capabilities in an industry or application
  • Think consequentially in all aspects of the major customer relationship including the ability to identify issues whether commercial, technical, or schedule related before they occur.
  • Present project activity and financial updates on projects/applications to large audience of customers and/or associates.

Required Abilities:

  • Strong ability to proactively identify, mitigate, and resolve complex execution risks and project issues
  • Ability to adapt to dramatic changes in customer requirements and be flexible to accommodate changes without impacting financials or employee morale.
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills for collaboration and teamwork
  • Proven project leadership on difficult applications and solutions
  • Strong attention to detail and support of continuous improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrated performance in stressful environments
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills are required.
  • Requires high level of conflict resolution skills, and is willing to make difficult decisions specific to resource planning and/or utilization of associates

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • At times, this position will be responsible for the indirect supervision of approximately 5-10 reports.
