HOURS: Full-time
RESPONSIBLE TO: Jericho Way Director
DIRECT REPORTS: None
LOCATION: 3000 Springer Blvd, Little Rock, AR
SALARY: $15.00 per hour, paid bi-weekly

Program Description
Jericho Way is a day resource center, medical respite, and housing program that provides services to individuals facing the immediate crisis of homelessness. We provide a welcoming place where individuals can get a hot meal, relax, shower, do laundry, obtain medical care, attend classes, and speak with case managers. Jericho Way provides housing, medical respite, and connects participants to community-based organizations and resources and helps move homeless men and women to lives of increased stability.

Position Description
The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment at Depaul USA’s Jericho Way Day Resource Center for clients, staff, and visitors. The Security Officer maintains a visible presence, monitors for safety and security concerns, responds appropriately to incidents, and reports unusual or unsafe activity. The Security Officer works closely with program staff and follows established safety and security procedures. This is an unarmed position.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions
• Maintains a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for clients, staff, visitors, and community members.
• Monitors the facility and surrounding areas for safety concerns, disturbances, unusual activity, or potential hazards.
• Responds appropriately to incidents and uses verbal de-escalation and conflict-resolution techniques when appropriate.
• Documents and reports incidents, safety concerns, unusual occurrences, and property damage accurately and promptly.
• Conducts regular and random patrols of the building, grounds, and parking areas.
• Monitors facility access and ensures clients, visitors, and staff follow established entry procedures.
• Monitors security cameras and assists with camera review when needed.
• Maintains required security logs, incident reports, and other documentation.
• Maintains restricted-access or trespass documentation in accordance with organizational procedures.
• Helps ensure facility rules and safety procedures are followed consistently and respectfully.
• Responds to medical emergencies, fire alarms, evacuations, and other emergency situations in accordance with established procedures.
• Contacts emergency services when appropriate and assists emergency personnel upon arrival.
• Communicates effectively with program staff and supervisors regarding safety, security, and client concerns.
• Maintains professional, respectful, and appropriate interactions with clients, staff, and visitors.
• Protects organizational property and helps identify and report theft, damage, or unauthorized activity.
• Assists with opening and closing security procedures, when assigned.
Additional Tasks and Responsibilities
• May be required to work extended hours or remain on duty beyond the scheduled shift as needed to support facility operations and security coverage.
• Attends required training, including mental health awareness, first aid/CPR, de-escalation, emergency response, and other safety-related training.
• Participates in emergency preparedness activities, drills, and exercises.
• Provides security coverage in different areas of the facility as needed.
• Assists with other safety and security-related tasks as directed by the Supervisor.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

General Responsibilities
• Stays informed of current local and national events, trends, and issues (wherever possible) that impact Depaul USA’s work with the homeless.
• Strives continuously to develop the role in collaboration with the supervisor to ensure that all tasks are undertaken effectively and appropriately, meeting the strategic goals and objectives of Depaul USA.
• Participates in internal/external meetings as required and attends training events, conferences, and other functions as necessary. Participates in regular supervision and annual appraisal and helps in identifying your job-related development and training needs.
• Ensures adherence to all Depaul USA policies and procedures, particularly those relating to Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Code of Practice, and Confidentiality.
• Contributes to the effective implementation of Depaul USA’s Equal Opportunities Policy as it affects both the organization and its work with this client group.
• Undertakes the role professionally, always maintaining a high-quality work standard and always working in accordance with the Vision, Mission, and Values of Depaul USA.
• Undertakes any other duties that may be required which are commensurate with the role.

Qualifications
The ideal Security Officer will have experience in security, safety, or a related field and will be responsible for helping maintain a safe and welcoming environment for clients, staff, and visitors at a Day Resource Center serving individuals experiencing homelessness. The Security Officer should possess the following:
• Valid Arkansas security officer license/registration required..
• Prior security or related experience preferred.
• Experience working with vulnerable or diverse populations preferred.
• Strong communication, observation, conflict-management, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
• Ability to use verbal de-escalation and conflict-resolution techniques.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and make appropriate decisions.
• Ability to follow security procedures and organizational policies.
• Basic computer skills and ability to complete incident reports and required documentation.
• Ability to work independently and effectively with staff and supervisors.

Physical Demands
The Security Officer must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, patrol the facility and surrounding areas, climb stairs, and respond promptly to safety and security concerns. The position may require lifting and carrying items weighing up to 20 pounds. The role may involve working indoors and outdoors and being exposed to varying environmental conditions. The employee must also be able to use a computer, telephone, and other basic office equipment as needed. Work Schedule:
• Primarily in-person from 3000 Springer Blvd, Little Rock, AR.
• Dates/Times: Monday-Friday, between 7:00am–2:30pm CST.
