In this role, you will be a member of our highly reputable cost management and estimating team. The cost team delivers solutions to clients in the areas of conceptual estimating, budget development, cost planning, feasibility studies, value management, economic forecasting, milestone reports, pre- and post-contract auditing, change order review and reconciliation, BIM 5D cost modeling, LEED cost analysis, life cycle costing, and more. We are hiring a Senior Cost Manager in Honolulu, HI to work on a variety of projects supporting clients in various sectors. Come join our team!

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform Continuous Cost Management.
  • Review, interpret and accurately estimate the scope of assigned work as described in the project documents.
  • Manage contract administration at the project level.
  • Review and comment on contracts and participate in contract negotiation.
  • Prepare sub-contractor analysis sheets for assigned scope of work.
  • Evaluate changes and subcontractor change order estimates and provide expertise in all phases of construction work.
  • Perform Value Analysis.
  • Lead client accounts.
  • Develop and nurture client relationships to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Partner with management team in developing new customers and growing existing customer base.
  • Support senior management by providing needed reports and responding to inquiries for information.
  • Mentor junior cost estimators.
  • Provide bid analysis and post contract support.
  • Participate in peer review process.
  • Understand project controls and stakeholders’ requirements.
  • Participate in industry events and demonstrate an understanding of the local market.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Attendance at work during normal business hours.

Knowledge & Skills Required:

  • Proficient in cost estimating for construction projects.
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge of the construction industry and the ability to apply cost-estimating methods.
  • Provide pricing expertise across various phases of construction work.
  • Proficient in quantity measurement and possess a solid understanding of different construction trades, procurement strategies, and project delivery methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, including Architectural, Civil, Structural, MEP, Geotechnical, Site Logistics, Hazmat, and Schedule documents.
  • Ability to understand contracts and specifications and review construction schedules.
  • Strong research skills and the ability to identify, analyze, and apply relevant data.
  • Ability to quickly analyze, compare, and interpret detailed, complex, and sometimes poorly defined information.
  • Proficient in Excel and knowledgeable in current construction technology and estimating software.
  • Possess a working knowledge of the different roles and services Cumming provides and understand how the Cost Management team contributes to the overall project.
  • Ability to effectively integrate and collaborate with other departments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work efficiently in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of creativity, initiative, and latitude in developing solutions to project challenges.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and work varied hours, including evenings or weekends when necessary.
  • Deliver high-quality work products while consistently demonstrating and role-modeling organizational core values.   • Support management in effectively coordinating estimating and cost management activities across projects and teams.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment, adaptability, and initiative when addressing project needs and priorities.
  • Partner with the management team to develop new customers and expand the existing customer base.
  • Develop and maintain a professional network of key Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) professionals within the market.
  • Participate in relevant industry events, functions, and professional organizations to strengthen market presence and relationships.
  • Identify opportunities to support client development, strengthen existing relationships, and contribute to business growth.
  • Represent the organization professionally when interacting with clients, industry partners, and prospective customers.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Education: BS in Construction, Cost & Commercial Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field

Experience: 4 to 5 years in Cost & Commercial Management or Quantity Surveying with professional accreditation. Experience with military estimating and MCACES MII software. Ability to apply for and obtain military base access.

Preferred Certification: Professional accreditation – MRICS, AssocRICS, CCP, CEP, CPE or equivalent

The salary range for this full-time role is $97,400.00-$129,866.68 per year. Ranges are determined based on the position, geography, client and industry experience and level, and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range reflects base salary only, and not the total compensation package. Cumming Group reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on a candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications, including client requirements.
