Job Description

Lincoln Leadership Academy Charter School (LLACS) is seeking a caring, organized, culturally responsive, bilingual, and highly motivated Parent & Family Liaison for a full-time position.

The Parent & Family Liaison will serve as a trusted bridge between the school, students, families, and community. This position is responsible for strengthening school-home communication, family engagement, attendance intervention, student support, community outreach, parent education, and connections to community resources that promote student success.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience working with families, students, schools, community organizations, or human service agencies, with the ability to build trusting relationships across diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and linguistic backgrounds. The Liaison will work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, counselors, and other student support personnel to identify and address barriers that may interfere with student attendance, academic achievement, behavior, wellness, engagement, and overall success.

The Parent & Family Liaison will be a visible, welcoming, and culturally responsive presence within the school community. The position requires strong bilingual communication skills, excellent interpersonal abilities, sound judgment, confidentiality, organization, and the ability to connect families with appropriate school and community resources.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

The Parent & Family Liaison will be responsible for:
Building and maintaining positive relationships with parents, guardians, caregivers, students, and community partners.

Strengthening communication between the school and families through timely, accessible, and culturally responsive outreach.

Supporting attendance intervention by identifying barriers to regular attendance, communicating with families, conducting appropriate outreach, and helping develop family-centered strategies to improve attendance and engagement.

Connecting families with community resources, including food assistance, housing support, transportation, health and wellness services, childcare, employment resources, educational programs, and other appropriate services.

Planning and supporting parent education programs, workshops, family nights, orientations, conferences, and other family engagement activities.

Conducting family and community outreach, including telephone calls, meetings, community events, and authorized home visits when appropriate.

Assisting families in navigating school procedures, student support services, academic programs, attendance expectations, and available resources.

Collaborating with teachers, administrators, counselors, and student support personnel to address student and family needs.

Supporting new student and family transitions into the LLACS community.

Gathering family feedback and communicating relevant concerns, needs, and recommendations to school leadership.

Maintaining accurate, timely, and confidential documentation of family contacts, outreach, referrals, attendance-related interventions, meetings, and follow-up activities.

Providing or coordinating appropriate bilingual communication and language-access services for families.

Promoting a welcoming school culture in which every student and family feels respected, valued, supported, and connected.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required
Bachelor's degree in social work, community relations, human services, education, psychology, counseling, family services, communications, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience as approved by school administration.

Bilingual proficiency is required, with the ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish strongly preferred/required based on school and family needs.

Demonstrated prior experience working with families, parents, students, schools, community organizations, social service agencies, or human service programs.

Experience with one or more of the following: family engagement, school-home communication, attendance intervention, student support, community outreach, case management, parent education, or connecting families with community resources.

Demonstrated ability to build trusting and respectful relationships with families from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and linguistic backgrounds.

Strong verbal and written communication skills in both required languages.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, active listening, and conflict-resolution skills.

Ability to communicate effectively with parents, students, teachers, administrators, counselors, and community partners.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive student and family information.

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary school team while also working independently and managing multiple priorities.

Proficiency with common office technology, email, electronic records, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and other applicable school systems.

Ability to maintain accurate documentation of family contacts, attendance interventions, referrals, outreach, and follow-up activities.

Ability and willingness to participate in evening and weekend family engagement events and activities as needed.

Ability and willingness to conduct approved community outreach and family visits as required by the position and school policy.

Successful completion and maintenance of all required Pennsylvania employment and child-related clearances, including applicable criminal history and child abuse clearances.

Preferred / Additional Qualifications
Experience working in a K-12 school environment.

Knowledge of the Allentown and Lehigh Valley community and available family and social service resources.

Experience supporting families experiencing barriers related to attendance, transportation, housing, food insecurity, childcare, employment, or other family needs.

Experience coordinating parent workshops, family engagement programs, orientations, or community events.

Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse families.

Familiarity with student information systems, attendance systems, family engagement platforms, or case-management documentation.
