Senior Programmer

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Programmer in United States.

This role sits at the core of large-scale healthcare modernization initiatives supporting mission-critical government programs. You will design, develop, test, and maintain software applications, automation tools, and system integrations that improve efficiency across complex healthcare operations. The position involves working on initiatives such as claims processing, eligibility systems, appeals modernization, EDI, workflow automation, and RPA-driven solutions. You will collaborate with technical teams, analysts, architects, and government stakeholders to deliver scalable and secure systems. The environment is highly structured, impact-driven, and focused on improving service delivery for veteran healthcare programs. This is a hands-on engineering role with direct influence on operational performance and system modernization outcomes.

Accountabilities:
  • Design, develop, test, implement, and maintain software applications, automation tools, and workflow solutions supporting healthcare modernization initiatives.
  • Build and enhance web-based and client-server applications, scripts, and automation workflows, including RPA-enabled solutions.
  • Support system integration across applications, databases, and enterprise platforms, ensuring interoperability and reliable data exchange.
  • Develop and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, and database integration components supporting operational systems.
  • Participate in full software testing lifecycle activities, including unit testing, integration testing, system testing, and UAT support.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, analyze defects, and implement corrective actions to ensure system stability and performance.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including system specifications, test plans, deployment guides, and user documentation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and support implementation of modernization and workflow optimization initiatives.
  • Assist in deploying and supporting Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) solutions within enterprise environments.
  • Contribute to Agile or hybrid development processes and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development, application programming, or systems integration.
  • Strong experience building web applications, automation tools, or enterprise software systems.
  • Proficiency in SQL, relational databases, and data integration techniques.
  • Experience supporting software testing, debugging, and production system troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with system modernization, workflow automation, or enterprise integration projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to system performance and reliability.
  • Ability to work effectively in structured, stakeholder-driven environments with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
  • Bonus: experience with VA/VHA programs, healthcare systems, EDI, claims processing, or RPA technologies.
