Help Grow Kentucky’s Horticulture Community Through Education and Outreach

The Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment’s Department of Horticulture seeks an Agriculture Extension Associate Senior to support statewide home horticulture education and serve as the State Master Gardener Coordinator.

This position provides leadership for educational programming, outreach initiatives, and volunteer engagement efforts that help gardeners, county agents, and communities across Kentucky access research-based horticulture information. Working closely with Extension faculty, county agents, and stakeholders throughout the state, the successful candidate will play an important role in advancing horticulture education and strengthening the Kentucky Extension Master Gardener Program.

Interest in home gardening, community horticulture, and environmental stewardship continues to grow, creating greater demand for trusted, research-based information and educational resources. At the same time, the Kentucky Extension Master Gardener Program remains an important avenue for connecting university expertise with communities across the state.

In this role, you’ll help expand the reach of horticulture education, strengthen volunteer programs, and provide the resources and leadership needed to support gardeners, Extension agents, and communities throughout Kentucky.

Gardening knowledge. Writing and editing skills, public speaking, computer skills, ability to convey research-based information in a way that can be understood by someone with a non-science background, personal interaction skills.
