Team Leader - Verifications

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Team Leader - Verifications based in India.

This role offers the opportunity to lead a team responsible for critical employment and education verification operations supporting U.S. background screening.
You will manage a team of 10–20 associates, balancing productivity, quality, compliance, and service-level performance.
The position combines hands-on verification expertise with people leadership, coaching, performance management, and operational oversight.
You will ensure sensitive verification data is handled accurately, confidentially, and in line with client and U.S. compliance requirements.
The role also involves analyzing operational trends, resolving escalations, improving processes, and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
Success will be measured through SLA and TAT adherence, accuracy, productivity, client satisfaction, and team engagement.
This is a fully remote opportunity for an experienced operations leader comfortable working U.S. night shifts.

Accountabilities
  • Lead and manage a team of 10–20 associates responsible for employment and education verification processes.
  • Allocate workloads, monitor productivity, and ensure daily and weekly operational targets are consistently achieved.
  • Drive adherence to SLAs, turnaround times, productivity expectations, and quality and accuracy benchmarks.
  • Conduct regular coaching, feedback sessions, performance reviews, and corrective actions to strengthen individual and team performance.
  • Oversee end-to-end U.S. employment and education verification activities, including validation of employment details, designations, tenure, rehire eligibility, and educational qualifications.
  • Monitor inbound and outbound communication with HR teams, employers, universities, and educational institutions.
  • Ensure verification outcomes are accurately documented, with complete records and appropriate audit trails.
  • Maintain compliance with client requirements, verification guidelines, internal policies, and applicable U.S. compliance standards.
  • Conduct operational audits, identify discrepancies, manage complex escalations, and implement quality improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee related processes such as address checks and database validation while identifying process gaps and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with QA, Training, Operations leadership, and other stakeholders to resolve operational issues and maintain strong service delivery.
  • Track and analyze KPIs including productivity, quality, SLA, TAT, client satisfaction, attrition, and employee engagement.
  • Prepare accurate MIS and operational reports, identify trends, and implement improvement plans based on performance data.
  • Promote accountability, engagement, retention, and a high-performance culture within the team.
Requirements
  • Hands-on experience in employment and education verification is mandatory.
  • Minimum 18 months of experience as a Team Leader, with the leadership experience formally reflected in your employment history.
  • 3–6 years of total experience in BGV, KPO, verification, or operations environments.
  • Proven experience managing teams while consistently meeting SLA, TAT, productivity, and quality targets.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. employment and education verification processes and relevant compliance requirements.
  • Willingness and availability to work U.S. night shifts, Monday through Friday.
  • No employment gaps exceeding approximately 3–6 months.
  • Strong people leadership, coaching, performance management, and team engagement skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, target-driven operational environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MIS reporting.
  • Experience working with operational dashboards and performance reporting.
  • Familiarity with BGV tools and verification platforms is an advantage.
  • High standards of confidentiality, accuracy, integrity, and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
