Job Description

Estimating & Design Lead

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Estimating & Design Lead based in United Kingdom.

As an Estimating & Design Lead, you will turn commercial properties, site plans, specifications, and project requirements into accurate, defensible landscaping estimates and compelling proposals. You will serve as the technical and landscape expertise behind a fast-moving business development team focused on winning new commercial accounts. Your work will span estimating, landscape design judgment, scope development, and proposal support across diverse property types. You will collaborate closely with sales, estimators, property stakeholders, and field leadership while working remotely. Speed and accuracy will be equally important, with most requested proposals expected to be delivered within 72 hours. This is an opportunity to apply hands-on landscaping and horticultural expertise in a results-driven environment with meaningful performance-based earning potential.

Accountabilities
  • Review site plans, specifications, property photos, and project requirements to accurately determine landscaping and maintenance scope.
  • Develop detailed cost estimates covering materials, plant material, labor, equipment, timelines, and other project requirements.
  • Convert quote requests into accurate, client-ready proposals, with a strong focus on responsiveness and turnaround time.
  • Track estimates throughout the full process, from initial request through proposal delivery and follow-up, using the CRM.
  • Provide landscape and design expertise to proposals, including plant selection, layout considerations, scope requirements, and practical maintenance needs.
  • Identify gaps, inconsistencies, or unrealistic elements in proposed scopes and proactively flag issues before proposals reach clients.
  • Support proactive estimating efforts by identifying and developing estimates for properties that represent strong-fit opportunities.
  • Work closely with onsite sales teams, estimators, and field leadership to ensure estimating work remains aligned with operational realities.
  • Prepare for site visits by researching properties and organizing relevant historical scopes, photos, notes, and other available information.
  • Ensure quote requests remain actively owned and progress efficiently from request through proposal submission.
  • Maintain clear and accurate CRM documentation regarding estimating activity, quote opportunities, and project involvement.
  • Contribute to a performance-driven culture by combining technical expertise with commercial awareness and a strong focus on winning profitable work.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, horticulture, landscape architecture, or a closely related green-space field.
  • Strong ability to interpret site plans, specifications, property information, and visual documentation and translate them into practical scope and cost requirements.
  • Professional-level written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate clearly with U.S.-based stakeholders during core U.S. business hours.
  • Comfortable working remotely while maintaining close coordination with sales, estimating, and field teams.
  • Strong understanding of landscape materials, plant selection, labor requirements, equipment, maintenance needs, and project timelines.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with strong attention to detail and a practical approach to estimating.
  • Ability to work efficiently under deadlines and consistently deliver accurate proposals within expected turnaround times.
  • Comfortable working within performance targets and a compensation structure that includes a quota or results-based component.
  • Background or education in architecture, landscape architecture, design, or a related discipline is a strong plus.
  • Experience with commercial landscaping or maintenance contracts is highly desirable.
  • Experience using estimating software, CRM platforms, AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar design and business tools is an advantage.
  • Strong ownership, organization, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • A practical, hands-on understanding of landscaping is essential; this position is not intended for candidates whose experience is limited to general design or sales without meaningful landscape expertise.
Benefits:
  • $1,250 USD/month base salary.
  • Performance compensation designed to enable strong performers to earn $2,000+ USD/month in additional compensation, for an estimated $3,250+ USD/month OTE.
  • Bonus for each qualified quote opportunity that progresses to a genuine proposal.
  • 1% commission on collected revenue for projects in which you have meaningful estimating involvement.
  • Commission is based on collected revenue rather than simply signed contracts.
  • Performance compensation rewards measurable contribution to qualified opportunities and successful projects.
  • Fully remote working environment.
  • Opportunity to work with a growing commercial landscaping operation serving diverse property types across the U.S.
  • Direct impact on proposal quality, operational accuracy, and revenue generation.
  • Core U.S. business hours provide close collaboration with sales, estimating, property management, and field leadership teams.
  • Clear performance expectations and an opportunity to increase earnings through strong results.
