Industrial Plant Custodian at IGS Industries – MEADOWLANDS, Pennsylvania

The primary purpose of this position is perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish.

• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
• Clean conference room.
• Clean refrigerators, microwaves, toasters, oven, and outside of vending machines.
• Service, clean, or supply restrooms.
• Inventory janitorial supplies.
• Submit janitorial supply order as needed.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, or mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, or squeegees.
• Gather and empty trash.
• Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Dust furniture, walls, machines, or equipment.
• Use trash and cardboard compactor, as needed.
• Sanitize heavily touched surfaces.
• Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
• Requisition supplies or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
• Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
• Steam-clean or shampoo carpets.
• Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
• Assist with set up, arrange, or remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, to prepare facilities for events, such as banquets or meetings.
• Monitor building security and safety by performing tasks such as checking emergency locking doors after operating hours.
• Remove snow from sidewalks using snowplows, snow blowers, or snow shovels, or spread snow-melting chemicals.
• Drive vans, industrial trucks, or other vehicles required to travel to, or to perform, routine deliveries or pickups.
• Clear debris from grounds.
• Maintain flowerbeds in-front of, and alongside, main office building. Plant, water, mulch as needed.
• Alert management of property damage.
• Spray insecticides or fumigants to prevent insect or rodent infestation, as needed.

• The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts while performing the duties of this job.
• The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.
• Work involves occasional exposure to unpleasant elements, such as fumes, loud noises, etc.
• Individual will be required to lift, push, pull, and carry up to fifty (50) pounds occasionally, and/or up to twenty (20) pounds frequently, and/or up to ten (10) pounds constantly.
• Work involves long periods of standing.
• Incumbent must be able to read, see, hear, and speak.

Position works Monday – Friday, daylight hours, and additional time as needed to complete work.

Shift: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Shift: Tuesday and Thursday; 5:00 AM – 1:00 PM

High School Diploma or GED; and/or equivalent work experience.
