MISSION OF THE POSITION
Are you a self-motivated Low Voltage Tech/Security Specialist looking to join an established employer in the Houston area? We are looking for a versatile and detail-oriented individual who will work with our team to provide high-quality security camera support for our company.
About the Company:
ACT Pipe & Supply was started in 1976 and is the largest independently owned waterworks and fire protection distributor in Texas. The current owners purchased the company in 1989 with the intention of growing the business into new geographic territories and strategic markets. Today, ACT has 16 geographic sites across Texas.

Houston, TX
The Position:
The Low Voltage Tech/Security Specialist is responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting regional video surveillance systems. This includes all applicable hardware, software, and storage devices. The position requires occasional travel within Texas to branch locations.
Job responsibilities:
- Engineer, install, maintain, and repair security systems, programmable logic controls, or other security-related electronic systems.
- Evaluate existing systems and suggest/implement improvements and/or changes.
- Purchase and maintain necessary camera equipment for all locations.
- Ensure proper computer and network access for camera system users; assign passwords and user IDs to new users.
- Ensure the physical location of computer and related hardware are secured.
- Assess the nature and level of physical threats so that the scope of the problem can be determined.
- Maintain safety permits, EAP maps, and alarm systems company-wide.
- Maintain and evaluate advances in the field, such as AI integration, etc.
- Assist in doing safety observations using the surveillance system.
- Perform other related duties assigned by the Safety Director.
Education & Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- More than 3 years of related experience and/or training in low-voltage equipment, cabling, troubleshooting, and installation preferred.
- Knowledge/experience with Digital Watchdog software and hardware is preferred.
- Working knowledge of data communications security procedures.
- Working knowledge of computer systems and networking.
- Ability to engage and supervise outside contractors.
