Smokehouse 4 Direct Hire at J H Routh Packing Company – Sandusky, Ohio

Job Summary:

The Smokehouse Operator is responsible for maintaining the smokehouse.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Loading the smokehouse with trees from the Curing room.
• Pushing trees into the smokehouse that weigh between 400 to 1000 pounds.
• Weigh and Label each tree
• Enter appropriate program into smokehouse for cycle that is running
• Monitor smokehouse during cook cycle for proper operation
• Ensure temperature stays between appropriate levels
• Carrying saw dust bags weighing 40lbs from dry storage to smokehouse
• Once product is at temperate and color, trees are pulled out of the smokehouse
• Recording all temperatures and weights of the trees
• Push loaded trees from the smokehouse to the blast chill.
• Cleaning the smokehouse between cook cycles.
• Spraying and rinsing the floors and walls with chemicals to clean all residue from inside the smokehouse.
• Utilizing a ladder to change and remove wet sock between each cook cycle.
• Cleaning on top of the smokehouse 20 ft in the air.
• Will be working in the Curing department when not working in the smokehouse.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 40lbs repeatedly
• Must be able to push/Pull up to 1000lbs with wheels
• Must be able to climb up to 20 ft on a ladder
