About This Position
Job Summary:
The licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (also known as a respiratory therapist) performs under direct supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Manager and is delegated an assignment to achieve quality patient care and expected productivity during a routine workflow experience. The therapist shall implement all basic and advanced procedures (non-invasive and invasive) as ordered by the physician in a systematic manner to include assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation in collaboration with the multidisciplinary care team as evidenced by documentation in the patient care record, direct observation by the supervisor and patient evaluation of care. The therapist is ultimately accountable to department director. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs and to provide the care needed. Demonstrates knowledge and sensitivity to cultural and religious beliefs of patients, visitors and staff. Demonstrates knowledge and skills for the operation, management and re-processing of all respiratory equipment.

Performance expectations will be covered in the orientation and preceptor phases of your orientation to your job.
- Utilizes critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
- Utilizes technical aptitude for dealing with and troubleshooting multiple pieces of Respiratory equipment including but not limited to EzPap, and Aerobika.
- Communicates with team members and departmental leadership.
- Consults with physicians and nursing staff regarding patient care, reactions, errors and complaints.
- Accepts personal ownership of remaining current with changes in department processes by checking communication at each shift.
- Communicates with a friendly, courteous and compassionate manner in all interactions with staff, patients, families and visitors while achieving exceptional, sustained quality patient care.
- Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills
Graduate of Accredited Respiratory Care Practitioner Program required.
Work Experience:
Respiratory Therapy work experience is preferred.
Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE
- Licensed by Mississippi State Board of Health
Additional Certification/Licensure - Obtained based on required timeframe below
- Basic Life Support
