About This Position

The approximate base compensation range is posted, but the actual offer will reflect our total compensation and benefits package. The offer will be determined by a number of factors including the selected candidate’s experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, FTE, number of months worked, as well as internal equity among our team.


This 9-11 month onsite position


Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our collaborative Education Department to serve primarily as a reading and teacher preparation faculty on our Duluth campus. The Education Department is located within the Stender School of Business, Leadership, and Professional Studies.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the Duluth on-site campus, with a primary focus on teaching and advising within the undergraduate program. This position involves close collaboration with faculty, curriculum development, and instruction of both undergraduate and graduate students across various modalities. In addition, the candidate will help strengthen partnerships with K-12 schools, contributing to the continued growth and development of the Education Department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with faculty to ensure program effectiveness and alignment with Minnesota’s academic standards.

  • Teach and maintain curriculum for literacy/reading programs, adhering to Minnesota's teaching licensure rules.

  • Teach other field clinical and methods courses.

  • Supervise teacher candidates in the field clinicals.

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate students through multiple modalities, including in-person, online, and hyflex formats.

  • Establish and sustain partnerships with K-12 schools to enhance program outreach.

  • Provide academic advising and support to Education students

  • Support and attend summer programs related to literacy/reading education.

  • Engage in scholarly activities as noted in the Faculty Handbook

  • Attend and participate in Program, School, and College events, and fulfill service commitments through committee assignments.

  • Contribute to fostering diversity and inclusive excellence and advancing the College's Catholic Benedictine Values.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's in Education, Literacy, Reading, or a related field.

  • Holds a current Minnesota K12 Reading License

  • Licensed Minnesota teacher

  • At least three years of K-3 teaching experience

  • Experience in online teaching

  • Experience teaching reading

  • Completed or in progress with completion by time of hire with one of the approved Minnesota READ Act-Funded Professional Development Programs
  • Familiarity with Minnesota's teaching licensure regulations and curriculum standards.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with faculty and key constituencies

  • Experience in teaching and advising undergraduate and graduate students.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.

  • Commitment to the Benedictine Values of the College.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree (EdD or PhD) in Reading, Literacy, Education, or a related field
