The Senior Manager, Audience Growth is Playboy’s day-to-day leader for social platform execution, community engagement, and audience development. Reporting to the Director, Audience Growth, this role translates the brand’s creative and editorial priorities into platform-specific content plans that grow reach, deepen engagement, and build lasting audience relationships.

This is a hands-on role for a social media leader with strong creative instincts, deep platform fluency, and a proven ability to turn performance insights into better content. The ideal candidate understands how to build culturally relevant social programming, manage a fast-moving publishing operation, and develop distinct approaches for each platform while maintaining a consistent brand voice.

The Senior Manager will oversee daily social workflows and manage assigned social team members, working closely with editorial, video production, casting, creative, and marketing partners. This role combines creative judgment with operational discipline and a strong understanding of Playboy’s core audience, predominantly men ages 25-45, while identifying opportunities to reach new audiences.

Core Responsibilities

Audience Growth & Performance

• Build and execute organic growth initiatives that increase discovery, follower acquisition, engagement, and repeat viewership.
• Own regular social performance reporting, including weekly insights, monthly reviews, and recommendations for the Director, Audience Growth.
• Evaluate results by platform, content type, franchise, and talent to identify what drives growth and where execution should change.
• Establish a consistent testing process for hooks, captions, thumbnails, video lengths, publishing times, and recurring formats.
• Partner with editorial and marketing to turn social interest into measurable traffic and engagement with Playboy’s broader content ecosystem.
• Set channel and campaign targets with the Director, Audience Growth and track progress against agreed benchmarks.

Social Team Support & Platform Execution

• Support the social team in executing daily content plans and audience growth initiatives under the direction of the Director, Audience Growth.
• Assist with scheduling, publishing, and maintaining content across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, X, and other active platforms.
• Prepare platform-specific captions, copy, and content packaging in collaboration with the social team, ensuring assets are ready for publishing.
• Help maintain the social content calendar, coordinating assets, deadlines, and approvals around editorial priorities, talent content, partnerships, and cultural moments.
• Monitor social trends, emerging formats, and platform updates, sharing relevant ideas and examples with the team to support content development.
• Provide hands-on support during launches, campaigns, and timely social moments, helping the team keep content organized and deliver posts on schedule.

Content Development & Distribution

• Pitch recurring social franchises, timely content ideas, and audience participation formats that reflect Playboy’s voice and cultural perspective.
• Develop clear briefs for social assets, outlining audience, platform, creative approach, deliverables, and timing.
• Partner with the video team to strengthen social hooks, pacing, captions, and platform-specific edits.
• Coordinate the distribution of original video, editorial stories, cover shoots, archival content, and podcast clips across relevant channels.
• Review daily social assets and copy for quality, accuracy, brand alignment, and platform suitability, escalating sensitive content or major creative decisions to the Director.
• Identify opportunities to extend individual shoots, interviews, and editorial packages into multiple compelling social assets.

Community & Cultural Relevance

• Lead community management practices that encourage conversation, strengthen audience relationships, and reflect Playboy’s editorial voice.
• Use comments, audience questions, and social listening to inform content development and identify emerging interests.
• Surface timely opportunities for Playboy to participate in cultural conversations.
• Coordinate sensitive community issues and potential reputational concerns with the Director and appropriate internal partners.

Creator, Editorial & Commercial Collaboration

• Support creator collaborations through content ideation, briefing, scheduling, asset coordination, and performance tracking.
• Work with casting and editorial partners to identify talent and creators suited to specific platforms and social franchises.
• Coordinate social rollout plans for magazine issues, digital features, talent announcements, and other priority initiatives.
• Execute approved branded content and partnership campaigns, ensuring deliverables meet creative standards, publishing commitments, and audience expectations.

Team Leadership & Operations

• Manage and develop assigned social team members, establishing clear responsibilities, priorities, and performance expectations.
• Lead daily publishing workflows, asset tracking, approvals, and quality control.
• Coordinate with freelance editors and creative contributors on social deliverables, deadlines, and revisions.
• Maintain efficient processes that support consistent output and quick responses to cultural opportunities.
• Track project needs and resource constraints, helping the Director prioritize production support and spending.

Key Performance Indicators

• Audience Growth: Net follower and subscriber growth across priority platforms.
• Reach & Discovery: Organic reach, impressions, non-follower reach, and video views.
• Video Engagement: Watch time, retention, completion rates, and repeat viewership.
• Community Engagement: Shares, saves, comments, engagement rates, and meaningful audience participation.
• Traffic & Conversion: Social referral traffic and relevant subscription or sign-up actions where tracking is available.
• Operational Performance: On-time publishing, campaign delivery, asset quality, and consistent execution of testing and reporting.

What You’ll Bring

Skills / Abilities / Competencies:

• Deep hands-on knowledge of Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, and X, including content formats, analytics, and organic distribution.
• Strong editorial judgment and the ability to write sharp, engaging social copy.
• Experience translating performance data into clear creative recommendations and measurable improvements.
• Confidence developing social video concepts and giving actionable feedback on hooks, edits, pacing, and packaging.
• Experience managing content calendars, approval workflows, and multiple concurrent projects.
• An understanding of Playboy’s heritage, current editorial direction, and core audience, with an instinct for reaching new communities.
• Strong collaboration skills and comfort working with editorial teams, talent, creators, and commercial partners.
• Sound judgment when handling sensitive topics and public-facing community interactions.
• Familiarity with social publishing, analytics, and listening tools.

Education & Experience

• Approximately 5-7 years of experience in social media, audience development, or digital content, including experience managing people or leading a social publishing operation.
• A demonstrated record of growing audiences for a media, entertainment, lifestyle, sports, or culturally relevant consumer brand.
• Experience with podcast distribution, YouTube programming, Reddit, or Substack is a plus.
