The Facilities Security Officer (FSO) is responsible for managing Salute’s industrial security program and security management office (SMO) in accordance with DoD, federal, and customer-specific security requirements. This role oversees security clearances, personnel security actions, visit authorizations, compliance activities, audits, and continuous monitoring. The FSO ensures Salute consistently meets NISPOM, DCSA, and contract security requirements across all federal and defense programs.
This is a remote role with travel for customer engagements, inspections, facility assessments, and leadership meetings.
What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)
- Personnel Security Management
- Manage and administer personnel security clearances and background investigations in Defense Information System for Security (DISS)and related systems of record.
- Initiate, monitor, and maintain QIP submissions, periodic reinvestigations, and adjudication workflows.
- Track clearance status, briefings, debriefings, and reporting requirements for all cleared personnel.
- Industrial Security Program Oversight
- Establish programming accordance with DSCA procedures.
- Maintain compliance with NISPOM, DCSA requirements, government contract clauses, and customer-specific security directives.
- Oversee secure storage, transmission, and destruction of classified materialism accordance with policy(as required).
- Conduct and document self‑inspections, internal audits, and annual reviews.
- DCSA & Government Liaison
- Serve as the primary interface with DCSA for inspections, communications, and corrective action plans.
- Coordinate with government security officers, contracting officers, and prime partners to resolve security issues.
- Training & Awareness
- Deliver security indoctrinations, annual refresher training, derivative classification briefings, and insider threat awareness sessions.
- Ensure compliance with reporting requirements (foreign travel, foreign contacts, adverse information, etc.).
- Visit Authorizations & Access Management
- Process visits authorization requests (VARs), incoming/outgoing clearances, and access prerequisites for classified meetings and contracts.
- Maintain DISS records and ensure timely updates for incoming hires and departing personnel.
- Program & Documentation Management
- Maintain Standard Practice Procedures (SPPs), security manuals, incident logs, and required documentation.
- Manage incident reporting, investigations, and mitigation actions in accordance with federal guidelines.
- Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with HR, Contracts, Capture/BD, and Program Management to ensure end-to-end compliance.
- Support proposal security inputs (DD254s, facility clearance documentation, personnel requirements).
What You’ll Bring (Minimum Qualifications)
- Active TOPSECRET clearance required.
- 5+ years of experience managing or administering personnel security clearances within the U.S. federal or defense community.
- Demonstrated proficiency using DISS (Defense Information System for Security).
- Experience supporting or managing programs governed by NISPOM, DCSA requirements, and industrial security regulations.
- Strong understanding of clearance eligibility, adjudication processes, reporting requirements, and contract‑specific security clauses.
- Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and proficient in managing sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interface effectively with government security officials, internal leadership, and employees.
- Ability to travel up to20%.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred, not required).
- FSO Certification for Possessing Facilities or Non‑Possessing Facilities.
- Experience with DCSA assessments, development of corrective action plans, and maintaining a facility clearance.
- Knowledge of Insider Threat Program requirements and training.
- Experience supporting DoD, VA, DHS, DOE, GSA, or Intelligence Community programs.
- Familiarity with DD254 development and prime/subcontractor security coordination.
Compensation & Benefits Disclosure
The base salary for this role is $75,000 per year. This pay reflects a good‑faith estimate of what we reasonably expect to pay upon hire, based on factors such as skills, experience, education, and market/location. Our comprehensive benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, Health Savings Account (HSA), gym discount, mental health, Discounted Group Life & AD&D, Discounted Group Short & Long-term Disability, 401(k) retirement matching, PTO/paid holidays, and parental leave. Final compensation will be determined by job‑related factors consistent with applicable law.
