Assistant Teacher at Khalsa Montessori Elementary School – Phoenix, Arizona

Khalsa is a private and charter Montessori school located in downtown Phoenix that serves children from the Infant/Toddler level to Elementary school. Khalsa Montessori School has an opening in the 26-27 school year for an Assistant Teacher. The assistant will provide support to the lead teacher and aid in running the classroom. This individual must be creative, loving and kind, calm, flexible, organized and dependable. They must be passionate about working with children! There is an opportunity for part-time summer hours prior to the start of the 26-27 school year.

This classroom assistant position is full time, Monday- Friday, in a Montessori classroom. An assistant teacher is responsible for safety protocols (cleaning), monitoring the classroom, ensuring appropriate follow-through of the teacher's direction or student's choice of appropriate behavior, maintaining educational materials and keeping the class environment attractive for the students. Other duties include but are not limited to snack preparation, monitoring children during classroom time, outside playground time (approximately an hour a day), etc.

For all applicants, a minimum of one year of experience with young children is essential. We are looking for individuals with maturity, high integrity, open mindedness, flexibility, dedication to the well-being of the children, willingness to be a team player, and a "beginner’s mindset".

The following characteristics are essential components of a successful candidate:

• Experience working well in a team environment. The assistant is an integral part of creating a courteous, fun and energetic learning environment
• Assistant needs to have a positive attitude and is caring and curious about learning and working with children of all ages
• Ability to multitask and have strong classroom management skills
• Monitor students during lunch, recess, arrival and dismissal, and as needed
• Montessori experience is a plus

Required license or certification: Valid IVP AZ Fingerprint Clearance Card, CPR and First Aid certification, negative for TB
