About This Position

Process Verification Supervisor- Nutrient Ingredient Manufacturing

Innophos is hiring a Process Verification Supervisor at our Nutrient Ingredient Manufacturing location in North Salt Lake, UT. The Process Verification Supervisor plays a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and safety of food ingredients manufactured within the facility by verifying all aspects of quality operations on the production floor. This position is responsible for monitoring adherence to food safety standards, managing non-conformance investigations, and implementing corrective actions. The Process Verification (PV) Supervisor will guide and develop the Process Verification team, fostering collaboration across departments to ensure compliance and adherence to food safety and regulatory standards through effective communication with Quality Management, and actively supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee PV processes, including raw material, Equipment Clearance, Line Check, Sampling, In Process Verification (Metal Detector Verification, Magnet Checks, Mesh Tests, LOD), Printing Labels, Scale verification, Equipment / Tool Calibration
  • Draft, update, review, audit, and update all PV operation-related SOPs, protocols, plan, working instructions, statements, templates, spreadsheets as requested
  • Lead investigations and root cause analysis for, and oversee the development of CAPA, including those related to customer complaints
  • Coordinate internal trials or validations, including production and cleaning validation with the support of the plant lab and QA
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with FSMA, SQF, GMP, HACCP, Kosher, Halal, ISO 17025, and other regulatory requirements
  • Lead and mentor the PV team, providing training, and conducting performance/disciplinary reviews, while ensuring the team has the necessary resources and up-to-date job descriptions to perform effectively
  • Supervise the purchasing, ordering, and procurement of PV tools and supplies
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and projects
  • Ensure all PV activities comply with safety regulations, proactively preventing accidents and demonstrating a commitment to safety across the entire PV operation environment
  • Work cross-functionally between Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Corporate
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science or a related field is preferred, otherwise at least 5 – 10 years of experience leading teams
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., SQF, GMP, CQA, CQE, Lean Manufacturing) are a plus
  • 3 or more years of supervisory/leading experience within a food, nutrition supplement, or related manufacturing environment
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Familiarity with 21 CFR 111, 21 CFR 117, cGMP, FSMA, SQF, HACCP, Kosher, and Halal regulations
  • Project management skills to oversee quality improvement initiatives
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), with strong data analysis and reporting capabilities
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and problem-solving abilities to effectively address non-conformities
  • Ability to follow Good Manufacturing Practices including the proper wearing of clean protective clothing, following personal hygiene standards, and adherence to food/drink/tobacco restrictions

Environment and/or Physical Factors
  • Work is generally performed in an office environment, with standard office equipment available
  • Requires frequent lab and plant field visits that may require the use of protective clothing & personal devices: Safety shoes, hard hat, safety glasses, earplugs, mask, goggles, insulated gloves, safety vest, harness, hair net, slicker suit, self-contained breathing apparatus
  • Frequent walking and office work
  • Occasional lifting (up to 55 lbs.), squatting, climbing ladders/stairs, standing, bending, temperature changes
  • Rarely operates heavy or mobile equipment
