The VP, Commercial Actuary will develop and present economic analyses, outcomes research, and financial models that demonstrate the impact of healthcare solutions to employers, consultants, and health plans. The position requires cross-functional collaboration with sales, medical affairs, finance, and product teams, while serving as the external actuarial voice in client meetings, conferences, and industry forums. This role combines high-level strategic thinking with hands-on data analysis and modeling, providing a chance to influence product innovation, market expansion, and evidence-based decision-making. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, translating complex healthcare data into actionable insights. Strong communication and presentation skills are essential to convey technical findings to executive and external audiences.

Accountabilities:
  • Serve as the actuarial subject matter expert in client meetings, consultant engagements, and industry forums
  • Lead the development of health economic and outcomes research, including analyses, studies, and external presentations
  • Analyze large healthcare datasets such as medical and pharmacy claims to quantify clinical and financial impact
  • Design and manage performance guarantees, reserving strategies, and provide internal education for commercial teams
  • Support value-based contracting and specialty incentive programs through actuarial modeling and financial analysis
  • Partner cross-functionally to support product launches, market expansion, and strategic planning
  • Communicate complex statistical and actuarial findings clearly to executives, clients, and industry audiences
  • Track industry trends, competitor positioning, and regulatory developments relevant to actuarial analysis

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of actuarial experience within healthcare organizations, health plans, or related services
  • ASA or FSA certification from the Society of Actuaries
  • Proven experience analyzing healthcare datasets, including medical claims, pharmacy claims, and population health data
  • Strong analytical, modeling, and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex analyses to varied audiences
  • Experience in health economic analyses, actuarial modeling, or outcomes research supporting commercial healthcare products
  • Knowledge of healthcare quality metrics, Medicare Advantage Star Ratings, and audit processes
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across commercial, clinical, and data teams
  • Self-starter capable of operating independently in a fast-paced, high-growth environment while managing multiple priorities
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 20–30%
