POSITION OVERVIEW
ABC Recycling Ltd. is seeking a Manager, Manager, Training & Development to be based out of our Burnaby, B.C. location. Reporting to the Director of Talent, the Manager, Training & Development is responsible for building, implementing, and operating the ABC Learning & Development Academy.
This role owns the end-to-end execution of learning at ABC, including LMS implementation, content migration, course development, learning pathways, and ongoing Academy operations. The focus is not on training delivery alone, but on building capability across the business that drives safety, operational performance, leadership strength, and internal talent development.
This is a hands-on role. You will build, run, and continuously improve the Academy!
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the implementation, configuration, and ongoing management of the LMS, including vendor coordination and system optimization.
- Audit, migrate, and standardize training content while developing new courses in partnership with SMEs.
- Design and implement structured, role-based learning pathways aligned to business needs and core training pillars.
- Oversee day-to-day Academy operations, including in-person delivery, train-the-trainer initiatives, and embedding learning into operations.
- Measure training effectiveness by tracking key metrics and providing insights to drive business impact.
- Partner with leaders and People & Culture to ensure adoption of learning and integration with performance and talent processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5-7+ years in learning and development, training, or capability building
- Proven experience implementing and managing an LMS
- Experience building structured learning programs or academies
- Strong instructional design and course development capability
- Ability to translate operational knowledge into practical learning
- Experience working with frontline operations or industrial environments is a strong asset.
