Position Overview
McKinney Regulatory Science Advisors is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support our financial operations. This role is critical to ensuring accurate invoicing, effective project tracking, and financial visibility across multiple client engagements. The ideal candidate has experience in a project-based or professional services environment and is comfortable working closely with scientific and regulatory teams.
Key Responsibilities
Invoicing & Revenue Management
· Prepare, review, and issue accurate client invoices based on contracts, milestones, and time-and-materials billing
· Ensure invoices align with client agreements, scopes of work, and regulatory consulting deliverables
· Collaborate with project managers and scientific staff to validate billable hours and expenses
· Monitor unbilled revenue and ensure timely invoicing cycles
Project Financial Tracking
· Track project budgets, costs, and profitability across multiple consulting engagements
· Maintain detailed project financial records, including labor utilization and expense allocation
· Provide regular financial reports and insights to leadership and project teams
· Analyze budget vs. actual performance and highlight risks or variances
Accounts Receivable & Collections
· Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding invoices
· Reconcile client accounts and resolve billing discrepancies in a timely manner
· Support cash flow management through proactive collections and reporting
General Accounting & Close Support
· Assist with monthly close processes, including revenue recognition and journal entries
· Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with company policies
· Support audits and financial reporting requirements
· Continuously improve processes for invoicing, project tracking, and financial reporting
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
· 2–5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in consulting, regulatory, or professional services environments
· Strong understanding of project-based accounting, invoicing, and revenue recognition
· Experience with accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, BigTime)
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
· Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
· Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
